Property owners have come forward and indicated that they do not wish to pursue charges at this time. In light of this new information, our office is no longer actively seeking this individual. Should circumstances change, this decision may be revisited.

Earlier this morning, Kenedy Police Officers responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into the property that remains of the Humble Cafe at the corner of Escondido Street and Victoria Street.

The driver, identified as Derrick Edwards (photograph below), fled the scene on foot and was last seen in the area of St. Mary’s Street and Booe Street. Citizens have reported that he may be carrying a hatchet. This notice is being shared to keep the community informed and aware, not to cause alarm.

If you see this individual, do not approach him and contact the Kenedy Police Department at 830-583-2225 or the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office at 830-780-3931, option 1.

Public Service Announcement

At 1130 pm there was a large fire at the Fast Market / Valero Gas Station in Kenedy Texas and some residents were evacuated from the Kenedy Heights Apartments.

1151 pm, the fire has been extinguished and it is safe to return to your homes.

Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement are still on scene working hard to clear the area.

As fans gear up to cheer on the San Antonio Spurs, we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly and be respectful of others and their property.

While our Spurs fan base here in Kenedy and Karnes County may be small, our spirit is strong!

🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICE: Regarding Reports of a Suspicious Gray Van 🚨

The Kenedy Police Department and the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office have received numerous calls regarding a "suspicious gray van" operating in local neighborhoods. We want to reassure the community that there is no cause for alarm. They have been issued a proper permit by the City of Kenedy.

Our officers have made contact with the occupants of the vehicle several times as the calls come in. The van belongs to representatives from Kirby Vacuums, who are legally soliciting business in the area. “KIRBY VACUUMS” will also be displayed on the side on the van.

We are incredibly grateful to our residents for remaining vigilant and quickly reporting suspicious activity. Thank you for keeping our community safe!
