Good afternoon, Karnes County! We are excited to celebrate EMS Week 2026 this week, May 17-23! Our department kicked off EMS Week with a department banquet last night, hosted at the beautiful Karnes City Columbus Club.
The evening began with the reading of three incredible EMS Week proclamations; one from our own Karnes County, Texas Judge Wade Hedtke, one from Judith Zaffirini, Texas State Senator, and another from Texas Governor Greg Abbott!
We were also honored to be joined by representatives from many of our partners in care, including Karnes City Volunteer Fire Department, Karnes County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Steven Bailey, Karnes County Office Of Emergency Management, HALO-Flight, Inc., Gonzales County Emergency Service District 1, as well as a special guest speaker, Chief Dudley Wait from Fort Bend County EMS. The night wouldn't have been complete without delicious dinner from our local favorite, The Original Market BBQ!
EMS Week is a chance for our department to recognize the professional, compassionate, and unending efforts of the men and women who comprise our department, who put in the hours and days of work to keep the wheels turning, and ensure that the citizens and guests of Karnes County receive the best possible emergency medical pre-hospital care available. We are blessed to serve in a community that consistently supports and recognizes our department for the work that we do, it means so much to us that EMS Week is a chance to say thank you to our field crews for being the true lifeblood of our agency - without our field EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics, there would be no Karnes County EMS!
