Our 50th Anniversary.
We are a squad in small town in Lunenburg County Virginia. We have a rich history of people working together to benifit our community. This album will eventually consist of more than 200 pictures, as long as Facebook allows uploads. In other albums that have been previously posted you can find a written history of our squad, from the very beginning.
Our event was successful, blessed with good weather and although there were many other events taking place in and around our area we considered the turnout good.
Like most all volunteer organizations in our country, we have, as time has progressed lost members due to death, illness, moving to other areas in search of work and some other reasons.
Another reason for a lack of volunteers is the amount of hours that must be put in in order to even qualify to take the Basic EMT license test. Over the past years that commitment has gone from less than 50 to over 100.
We ask of anyone who makes an application to join our organization to commit to becoming a Basic EMT. Another qualification that is of need is the ability to work with other people, in spite of any personality conflicts that may exist due to any reasons. Putting aside personalities is paramount when one enters the building for a meeting of any type or boards an ambulance and is dispatched to someone who needs help.
In essence, we who volunteer our time to benifit to assist those in need. We volunteer to help those in need regardless of their personal lifestyles and/or circumstances.
