🚨TRAFFIC ADVISORY🚨

Route 137 Closed in Kenbridge

All lanes of Route 137 (East 5th Avenue) in the Town of Kenbridge remain closed due to downed power lines. The closure is expected to remain in place through Saturday and into the day on Sunday.

For reference: It is closed from Barnes Street to Virginia Marble.

Through traffic should follow the posted detours:

• Northbound Traffic: Travel north on Route 601 (Fletcher Chapel Road), west on Route 600 (Chapel Road), and west on Route 40 to East 5th Avenue.

• Southbound Traffic: Travel east on Route 40, east on Chapel Road, and south on Fletcher Chapel Road to East 5th Avenue.

We know this is not ideal and can cause delays. Please be patient and give grace to those working.

The below map is a drought expectancy map provided by DEQ to keep us alert as to the status of our area. As you can see by the map that was dated August 27th, Charlotte County and Mecklenburg, our neighbors; are in the Drought Emergency area and we are currently in the Drought warning area. Since this map was published, Kenbridge has had unmeasurable water fall. After some consultations and projected rain fall models and forecasts, we feel it is necessary to ask for voluntary water restrictions from our citizens to ensure that we have enough water supply to sustain the daily life health and safety of our citizens. This would call for restrictions on watering your lawns, washing vehicles, filling pools or outside water sales. Thank you for helping out. We all need to do our part.

The Town Offices will close at noon on Friday Sept 4th and also will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. Monday's trash route will be run along with Tuesday's regular route. All other routes will remain on schedule. Thank you and have a safe Holiday Weekend.

The food truck rodeo scheduled for Friday, Sept 4th has been CANCELLED due to heat indexes. We will work with the vendors to get one rescheduled for another date. Have a safe holiday.
