We are excited to be celebrating Taste Washington Day on October 8th this year! We are partnering with many wonderful WA State companies and farms to bring Kelso students a taste of Washington in our menus at all sites.
Taste Washington Day will be the kickoff to our commitment to serve more local foods as we have received a Farm to School Grant from Washington State Department of Agriculture over the next two years!

We are thrilled to share that meals will continue to be free of charge for all Kelso SD students for the 25-26 school year. We are asking all families to complete the income form (CNEEB) in order to provide schools crucial data for funding. You can find this on Skyward, our webpage, your schools office, or in the letter that was mailed to all families. We look forward to serving our students of Kelso delicious and nutritious meals!

Local PNW Pink Salmon from Lummi Island Wild was the special at Kelso High School today as a Teriyaki Salmon Bowl. The bowls included marinated and baked salmon, rice, edamame, fresh veggies, and sriracha mayo. Pink salmon is a nutritional powerhouse with delicate flavor and a flakey texture. Our KHS kitchen crew knocked this out of the park, and almost 200 students enjoyed this special!

This week fresh roasted asparagus was tested at Kelso High School and Rose Valley. The asparagus was roasted with spices such as garlic and pepper, and tossed in shredded parmesan cheese. Students had a GREAT response to this delicious seasonal vegetable, and many even tried it for the first time!

This Wednesday our Lexington Elementary School Eagles were the first school to test out our new scratch-made bean burritos. Filled with cheesy beans and spices, these are a tasty and filling lunch special! This recipe was developed at our annual recipe contest among Elementary Nutrition Services staff. Yum!
