“I want to be remembered for courage for my faith”
Just a few months ago, Charlie Kirk was asked by a young interviewer, “Everything just goes away, what do you want to be remembered for?”
That was Charlie’s reply.
Simple. Succinct. Resolute.
Our home is in deep mourning.
The news of the assassination of Charlie Kirk has hollowed our souls and wet our eyes but has quieted our spirits.
Charlie is the age of our son.
His and Erika’s children are the age of our grandchildren.
That fact wrenches our gut into an inexplicable knot.
Watching the video of his brutal pre-meditated murder rocked me to my core.
What has our world devolved into?
I encourage all to view it. It is hard to watch and many reading this will not want to. It is horrific and graphic, but it is not Hollywood or Fortnite. It is Real. It is extremely difficult to stomach for any reasonable person.
Yet, anyone with the smallest degree morality left in their soul will not escape unchanged.
But it is important we not hide or cover over the wickedness in our world.
How can the love seeded in humanity from on High become so cold, so hate-filled, so cowardly, so absent of conscience, and so vacated of virtue?
Could it be our institutions of learning have filled brains but left souls empty?
Could it be pastors in America have forsaken God’s Word and fear of The Lord for watered-down cheap grace, woke culturalism, avoiding all mention of civic-mindedness seeking to attract emotions rather than convict hearts with Truth?
Could it be elected leaders have forsaken our primary duty and responsibility which is to restrain evil?
As we search for answers in this, never forget Charlie Kirk stood against the forces of evil in our society with uncommon valor, strength, and courage of his faith.
He didn’t want to be remembered for building the largest and most impactful youth organization in America, or for influencing millions to return to our founding values, or even for his beautiful family.
The Everest summit of his life was his personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the power of His death and resurrection to change hearts, for eternal salvation, and cure the ills of our world.
The same faith we share
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.
Having the courage of our faith to proclaim this foundational truth is the highest tribute we can make to Charlie Kirk.
We must cultivate this courage.
We must cease to be silent.
We must carry this light-giving message into the dark.
They can kill our bodies but they cannot kill our message or our spirit. Both live on.
We must understand the war we are in.
It is much bigger than we know.
It isn’t against hateful rhetoric, leftist lunacy, or political opponents.
This war is being waged by the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, thw mighty powers in this dark world, and evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Rise up! The time has come!
“A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once.”
