A coin was given to the marines sponsored by Ryan'a Project this year along with a special note that read:
"From one Marine to another… Happy 238th birthday! I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. My name is Sgt. Ryan Robinson and I was proud to serve in the Marine Corps. Like you, I joined the Marines because there was no other option for me. I was proud to say I was a Marine. I died on September 1, 2008 from injuries that I sustained while fighting in Iraq. I was 29 years old. After I was injured and returned home, my dad and I talked a lot about the many wounded and disabled Marines and how I wish there was something I could do to help them. The Marine Corps birthday ball with the ultimate celebration of the Marine Corps and our brotherhood. I told him I wish that there was a way to help send these marines to a ball… Just to make it happen!
So what did my parents, Doug and Bonnie Robinson do? With all of their grief and loss they chose to start Ryan's project. They enlisted one of the best women I've ever known, Tiffany Madison (now married from what I understand… Would've loved to have been witness to that event!) to help get it up off the ground… And she did what she does best… Started the networking process. She used that Southern charm of hers to sweettalk strangers, family, and friends into joining our small but very devoted organization.
So, thank you! Thank you for being a part of our family and for allowing my family to share just a small part of me with you. I hope that you enjoyed the ball as much as I did.
Semper Fi, Ryan"
