The Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters are flying the first storm mission of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season to investigate Potential Tropical Cyclone One in the Gulf, off the Texas coast.

The crew will collect critical weather data from inside the system, including wind speed, atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity. The information gathered is transmitted in real time to forecasters at the National Hurricane Center and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to improve forecast accuracy and support timely warnings for communities that may be affected.

As the season begins, now is the time to review your emergency plans, build or update your disaster supply kit and stay informed through trusted weather sources.

Be , stay safe and monitor local forecasts for the latest information.

Members of the 41st Aerial Port Squadron gathered on June 6th to honor fellow Port Dawgs who have passed away. Although inclement weather forced the cancellation of this year's Port Dawg Memorial Run, aerial porters still came together for a ceremony dedicated to those no longer with us.

Since its establishment in 2013, the Port Dawg Memorial Run has become a worldwide tradition, uniting the aerial port community in honoring the lives, service, and legacy of fallen Port Dawgs.
