A great day of training in conversational canvassing for Cheshire County Democrats. Hannah Bissex from Rindge, with help from Rev Jamie Hamilton, and Rev Mark Beckwith trained a group of about 30 in the fine art of conversional canvassing, and listening with empathy. Bob Meisner, speaking from experience, introduced the idea of incorporating conversation in visibility and protests. The ever-helpful Suanne Yglesias arranged a beautiful lunch, for our debrief.
CCD will soon post signup links for canvassing, phone-banking and postcard writing events. Please check our website in week.

Sen. Van Hollen led the congressional effort to protect the constitutional rights of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador. Van Hollen's advocacy ensured that Abrego Garcia's right to due process was upheld and ultimately forced the administration to comply with a Supreme Court order to return him to the United States.
We are honored to have such a fierce advocate for human rights as the keynote speaker. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and take photos with him during the cocktail hours and at the end.

While we are in the middle of an unauthorized, and unjustified war, we cannot forget that most of our servicemen/women, and veterans live by principles and many are Democrats. The office will be open to the county-wide Democrats after the ribbon-cutting event on 5/23.
We will have an outdoor event (with tents if it rains) and then we will have a tour of the office and facilities.
5/23 will be in the Memorial Day weekend, and we will take the opportunity to honor our servicemen.
Congresswoman Goodlander is our special guest and will be cutting the ribbon for the office.
