Heavy rain and storms move in thanks to a front stalling across North Texas. Some storms will be strong, with gusty winds. Activity shifts east through the day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s for most.

This front lifts back north, which keeps southerly winds in place this weekend. Afternoon pop-up storms expected Saturday, with lower rain chances on tap for Sunday.

The weather pattern stays active through next week, as NW flow aloft drops disturbances south from Oklahoma late each day/night.

I’ll start a new post for this next round. It’s not severe right now but we will watch it. Would go across the southeast half of the county. So Cleburne, Alvarado, Venus and Rio to Grandview. It has some small hail pockets in it.

The Keene Fire Department has approved a burn permit for a property located at 301 South Eastern, adjacent to Keene ISD. Burning will begin today and may continue for several days or longer, depending on weather conditions. A significant amount of smoke is expected during the initial phase of the burn. Residents in the area are encouraged to be aware of the planned burn and the potential for increased smoke.

Storm chances will be highest over the weekend as a slow moving upper disturbance spreads through the Southern Plains. The severe weather threat remains low, though stronger storms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, small hail, and heavy rain. The flooding threat will increase in areas that observe training storms.

Another round of storms moves in from the west this evening. While the severe weather threat is low, a few storms may produce wind gusts in excess of 50mph along with some pocket change hail. Localized flooding is also possible, particularly where a few storms train repeatedly across the same spots.
