The City of Keene announces multiple roadway and infrastructure projects scheduled to begin or continue the week of June 8, 2026. Motorists are advised to expect temporary traffic pattern changes, delays, and to use caution when traveling through active work zones.
City-Wide Maintained Roads
Beginning Monday, June 8 at 9:00 PM, the City’s contractor, Pro-Finish Lines, will install pavement center line and fog line markings on City-maintained roads during overnight hours. City Highway crews will also install turning and traffic signal pavement markings throughout the City and in municipal parking lots.
To safely complete this work, temporary traffic patterns including shifted two-way and alternating traffic may be required. Work is expected to continue throughout the week, with normal traffic operations restored daily by 6:00 AM.
Marlboro Street Reconstruction
On Monday, June 8, the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will continue work on the Marlboro Street Reconstruction Project, including removal, replacement, and resetting of granite curb from Main Street to Eastern Avenue.
Traffic will be maintained as shifted two-way traffic as needed. Temporary markings have been installed to indicate no-parking zones and future travel lanes. Motorists are urged to follow posted markings and signage as construction progresses.
Bartholomew Court & Cheshire Rail Trail Connector
Beginning Monday, June 8, Bazin Brothers and subcontractor Pelow & Sons will continue installing concrete sidewalks on Bartholomew Court and along the Cheshire Rail Trail connector to Marlboro Street.
Traffic will be maintained as shifted two-way traffic. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the week, with normal traffic restored at the end of each business day.
Eastern Avenue & Transportation Heritage Trail (THT) Trailhead
Starting Monday, June 8, Gordon’s Property Services and Maintenance will continue work on the Transportation Heritage Trail near the Eastern Avenue trailhead parking area.
Alternating one-way traffic will be in place at times near the trail crossing and parking area. This phase of work is expected to take approximately 2–3 weeks, weather permitting. Normal traffic patterns will resume at the end of each workday.
Island Street
On Thursday, June 11 at 7:00 AM, SUR West and its subcontractor will install pavement markings on Island Street, weather permitting.
Alternating one-way traffic will be in effect near the work zone. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day, with traffic returning to normal afterward.
Pearl Street
Beginning Monday, June 8 at 7:00 AM, SUR West will perform a pavement trench patch and cleanup work related to a sewer main repair at Pearl Street and Crescent Street.
Pearl Street at West Street will be closed to through traffic, with alternating one-way traffic near the work zone. Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.
City Hall Parking Garage
Starting Monday, June 8, Structural Preservation Systems will continue selective demolition and concrete repairs at the City Hall Parking Garage.
This work will continue throughout the week and is anticipated to be completed in early July, weather permitting.
Willow Street
Beginning Monday, June 8, BC Construction will continue excavation and installation of new sidewalks on Willow Street.
Willow Street will be closed to through traffic during concrete pours and reduced to alternating one-way traffic during other construction activities. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the week, weather permitting, with normal traffic restored daily.
George Street Bridge Replacement
Starting Monday, June 8, New England Infrastructure, Inc. will continue installation of a stormwater diversion structure in preparation for the George Street Bridge replacement.
George Street will be closed and detoured near the work zone. This traffic pattern will remain in place throughout the week, with normal conditions restored at the end of each workday.
The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during these necessary infrastructure improvements. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted signage, and drive cautiously in all construction areas.
