Keene State College is vital to Cheshire County, the Monadnock Region, and New Hampshire. Many of our dedicated employees have emerged from KSC, and they join the County ready to serve their community and tackle any challenge thrown their way.

A 2021 Keene State graduate, Davis started as an intern with Cheshire County and has already made a meaningful impact through his work on countywide initiatives, including ARPA funding allocations and helping local organizations navigate the unprecedented funding landscape during the COVID-19 pandemic."

Last week, Cheshire County hosted Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander for a roundtable with local EMS agencies on the challenges facing rural emergency services.

The conversation focused on the pressures our providers face every day: call volume that keeps climbing, aging communications infrastructure stretched across some of the most rural terrain in the state, and the difficulty of recruiting and retaining trained personnel in small communities. These are not abstract problems. They determine how fast an ambulance reaches a home in anywhere in the County, and whether the crew on that call can reach dispatch once they get there.

We are grateful to Congresswoman Goodlander for making time to hear directly from the people doing this work, and for her continued support of rural EMS across the Second District. Federal partnership has already made a real difference here, and conversations like this one are how that partnership stays grounded in what our communities actually need.

Families of Cheshire County Department of Corrections arrestees are being targeted by scammers posing as jail staff. They provide accurate inmate details and then demand payment, claiming the inmate qualifies for electronic monitoring release.

Correctional Facility staff never request digital payments by phone. If you get a call like this, hang up and report it to the Police Department.

Cheshire County is proud to see Winchester's own State Representative Jennifer Rhodes, honored for her tireless advocacy for domestic and s*xual violence survivors!

Rep. Rhodes sponsored HB 1651, creating s*xual assault restraining orders, and championed new laws cracking down on s*x trafficking and strengthening victim restitution. At a recent Concord press conference, she delivered an emotional message to survivors: "You are seen, you are heard, you are believed."

Cheshire County Statement on Recent Federal Immigration Enforcement Activity in Keene

KEENE, N.H. — In response to inquiries from community members, community leaders, and the media, Cheshire County is issuing the following statement regarding recent operations conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security in the City of Keene.

Cheshire County had no role in these operations. The County was not notified of the activity, did not participate in it at any level, and has no knowledge of any additional operations that have occurred or may occur.

"I would like to clearly state that the Cheshire County Sheriff's Office was not aware of this operation before, during, or after the fact," said Sheriff Eli Rivera. "The Sheriff's Office found out on social media, like many others in Keene and Cheshire County."

Questions regarding these operations should be directed to the federal agencies involved.
