This is what we midwesterners call… “good sleeping weather”…. A slight rumble, some wind and rain…. Maybe a storm warning…..

This is where we say… “If it’s my time, it’s my time” and roll back over to sleep 😂😂😂😂

No this is not a scene from the newest modern day Pirates of the Caribiean.... more like "Pirates of Suburbia"....

Listen up fam!!!

School is out and there are a few youth/young adults who have nothing better to do with their time..... When four of them group up they put together all three of their brain cells and decide to do dumb things... like burglarize your easily accessible items.

This time of year we see a huge uptick in "pulling handles". The suspects will travel in groups. Usually two or three walking down the street pulling every car handle they can. They are usually wearing backpacks and most of the time gloves and some kind of mask. There is a mobile lookout driving a vehicle. Usually blacked out and rolling down the street for a quick getaway. They are looking for crimes of opportunity and are unphased by your camera system as they are covered and gloved.

"OOOHHHH FOR THE LOVE OF ALL MY KEEPSAKES, HOW DO WE THWART THESE SCALLYWAGS...!!??"

Glad you asked! TAKE YOUR THINGS OUT OF YOUR CAR AND LOCK IT!!!!! Whew, that was tough....

It is LITERALLY that simple folks. Take your Hi-point pistol, that $7,000.00 cash you just pulled from the ATM, and your mommas pearls... INSIDE YOUR HOME!!

Should they decide to enter your home with intent to do harm.... well, that's between you, them, and God. Handle it accordingly.

Pro Tip: Sometimes folks will recover their own stolen vehicles…. It happens…. Just make sure you call and have the police remove it from NCIC.

Listen fam.....

It is Memorial Day Weekend... Cookouts abound, boats are in the water, families are on extended days off, and for some, emotions are high. This is the time we take to reflect.

As you know we are tough on DUI's. We had another one yesterday at 4 PM. There is no excuse. I pass by a memorial on HWY 254 EVERY SINGLE DAY to and from work. There is a sign that lets everyone know it was a preventable and senseless death as it reads "Lost to DUI" on the sign.

The DUI yesterday happened just a few hours after I met with JJ Hayes and did an interview about DUI. He too lost a close friend.

WHEN DOES IT END!? When do you AS A FRIEND, step up and take the keys, no matter the consequences. What are you afraid of!? Hurt feelings? A drunken mal-aimed swing at you? Better than someone dying or ending up in jail for the night..... As a friend, DO YOUR PART!!!

As the one who is drinking..... MAKE A PLAN! Get one of the MULTIPLE apps on your phone and use the dang thing. Take an Uber to the event so there isn't the option of driving home.

Kechi, if you are in need of a ride after drinking and you are in our city limits.... call us. We will come. We will give you a ride or help you make arrangements. Our time is MUCH better spent helping you at a location than working a DUI or fatality wreck. Call 911, and we will respond.

To the DUI Victims Center.... thank you for the continued support. It is my goal that you go out of business!! It is my goal that DUI becomes a thing of the past and our community no longer needs your services. Or that your services only consist of helping those heal from past DUI's. We truly love you and are proud to fly your ribbons on our cruisers every year.

Kechi, have an amazing weekend and remember those who have gone long before us, those who sacrificed, and spend time with those who are still here........

Ms. Stephanie Callahan was enroute to deliver some AMAZING Cheesecake...... when she found herself locked out of her car!!....... Have no fear, we keep that THANG in our trucks.... Chief Moore got it all squared away and the goods were delivered a short time later.
