The Kearny Police Department would like to thank the American Legion for continuing its longstanding tradition of recognizing the dedicated service of Kearny’s first responders.

Last week, Detective Jordenson Jean was honored as Kearny’s Policeman of the Year during the organization’s annual awards ceremony. Detective Jean’s hard work, professionalism, and commitment to the residents of Kearny make him truly deserving of this recognition.

We are grateful to organizations that continue to recognize and support the men and women who serve this community every day, and we thank the American Legion for a memorable evening honoring Kearny’s police officers and firefighters.

Congratulations again to Detective Jean and all of this year’s honorees.

The Kearny Police Department congratulates Detective Sergeant John Fabula and Detective Bryan San Martin on being recognized by the Elizabeth Police Department during their annual Blue Mass and Awards Ceremony.

Det. Sgt. Fabula and Det. ⚠️ Business Alert: Thefts of E-ZPass Transponders from Commercial Vehicles ⚠️

The Kearny Police Department is advising businesses and commercial vehicle operators to remain vigilant following an uptick in thefts involving E-ZPass transponders taken from parked commercial trucks.

These devices are often used fraudulently after being stolen, resulting in unauthorized toll charges and financial loss to businesses.

Businesses are encouraged to:
• Remove or secure transponders when vehicles are unattended
• Park in well-lit, secure areas whenever possible
• Review toll account activity regularly
• Report suspicious activity immediately

If you observe suspicious behavior around parked commercial vehicles, contact the Kearny Police Department at 201-998-1313.
