Jefferson County Sheriff's Reserves The Official page for the Jefferson County Sheriff Reserve, WV

The Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff's Reserves is a volunteer organization that looks for members to assist the Sheriff's department with various activities in Jefferson County. We backup and assist the regular deputies with various calls throughout the county, assisting with traffic control at accidents, vehicle/house searches, serving court papers, processing arrests, finger printing and transp

orting to the eastern Regional Jail. The Sheriff's Reserves also provide security for a variety of fuctions and events that take place in Jefferson County such as the Heritage Mountain Arts and Crafts shows in June and September, teen dances at the County Recreation Center and other events that take place in the County. The Reserve's will also assist other law enforcement agencies in Jefferson County and surrounding counties.

It was a pleasure at last nights meeting to have two Ranson City Council members, along with one of our Reserve officers—all residents of the Shenandoah Springs subdivision—present a donation check to our Reserve Program. The funds were collected during their recent neighborhood BBQ. We sincerely appreciate the support and generosity of the community.

Today, at the annual Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserve Picnic, Reserve Deputy Kim was presented with the Lifesaving Award for his actions during an emergency last month.

On May 19, 2026, Reserve Deputy Kim was out of state attending an instructor certification course on behalf of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserves. During lunch, a law enforcement officer from another agency began choking. Reserve Deputy Kim immediately recognized the emergency and took swift action by performing the Heimlich maneuver, successfully clearing the obstruction.

Because of his quick thinking, professionalism, and training, Reserve Deputy Kim was able to provide the lifesaving intervention needed in a critical moment. His prompt actions directly contributed to a positive outcome.

Please join us in congratulating Reserve Deputy Kim on this well-deserved recognition.

Due to the weather, the Friday Night Summer Concert was moved indoors at the Rarson County Commission Meeting Room.
