Last Day Hoorays~ 🎉☀️💙
We had a lot of fun on our last day of school by having an epic Rock Paper Scissors competition, honoring our retiring teachers, homemade kites outside and even a teacher break dancing! Sunrise is a special place to be!

The 8th grade Intro to Journalism/Yearbook class wrapped up their novel study of That's Not What Happened by Kody Keplinger with an interview with the author herself! Students submitted questions asking about her writing process and about the book itself. That's Not What Happened is a tale of what can happen when the media takes a story and runs with it, even when it turns out to not be the truth. It invokes a lot of thought around ethical journalism, whose stories get to be told, and who gets to tell those stories. Kody Keplinger was also kind enough to give the class a sneak peek of her newest book for ages 12+ called Where Lost Girls Go, which comes out July 7, 2026!

Mrs. G’s 8th Grade Advanced FCS class spent last week exploring future careers with the help of some amazing local professionals! 💙

Students had the opportunity to hear real-life experiences, ask questions, and learn valuable advice through informal discussions with community guest speakers. A huge thank you to Tasha Hamilton, Kari Printz, Shawn Engberg, Brittany Stamer, and Amy Eigenberg for sharing their career journeys, wisdom, and encouragement with our soon to be high schoolers!
