⏰ NON-SUMMER HOURS RETURN!

Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, the Kearney SportsPlex will officially transition back to our non-summer operating hours:

🔹 Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–10:00 PM
🔹 Saturday: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
🔹 Sunday: 10:00 AM–8:00 PM

With fall sports getting underway and another busy season ahead, we’re excited for more activity, practices, programs, and events at the SportsPlex! 🏀🏐⚽🥎🏈

City of Kearney Sanitation Division and Kearney Area Solid Waste Agency Landfill announce that due to the upcoming Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 7, 2026, the following changes will be in effect for the sanitation collection system and landfill:

Residential Collection:
• Trash collection will be delayed one day, except Friday’s collection will remain on schedule.
• Yard waste collection will be delayed one day.
• Residential Recyclable collection normally collected on Friday will be collected on Saturday, September 12.

Commercial Collection:
• rash collection normally collected on Monday will be collected on Tuesday, September 8. Tuesday through Saturday will remain on schedule.
• Commercial Recyclable collection normally collected on Friday will be collected on Saturday, September 12.

Closings:
• The Kearney Area Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, September 7.
• The Solid Waste Agency Landfill, including the Yard Waste and Tree Site, will be closed on Sunday, September 6 and Monday, September 7.

BIG NEWS, KEARNEY! AVENUE A IS OPEN!

Final irrigation work remains for the next couple of days, but everything else has been completed.

For the Avenue N and 45th Street project, the crews are putting the finishing touches on the traffic signal work, which is expected to be fully operational by the end of next week.

As we get everything up and running, please bear with us! It will take a couple of weeks to fine-tune the signal timing, scheduling and traffic patterns as we see how everything flows throughout the day.

City crews will be out there monitoring traffic and making adjustments as needed to help keep Kearney moving smoothly during different times of the day.

Thank you for your patience throughout these reconstruction projects this summer!
