Department Use of Social Media Policy and Terms of Use

If you have information related to a crime (suspects involved, location, evidence, etc.), please contact the Kaysville Police Department at (801) 546-1131. If you post information related to a crime on this page, you may be placing yourself in the position of becoming a witness to a crime and subject yourself to subpoena. "Friending" between the Kaysville Police Department and a user does not indicate endorsement of that person's actions or comments. Comments on the Kaysville Police Department managed social media website containing any of the following content are prohibited and subject to removal by the Chief of Police or his/her designees:
a. Content and/or language that is abusive, obscene, discriminatory, inflammatory, or sexually explicit. Any information that violates individual rights, including confidentiality and/or privacy rights and those provided under state, federal, or local laws. Any information that could compromise an ongoing investigation. Any information that could compromise the safety and security of department operations, members of the Department, victims, suspects, or the public. Any content posted for personal use. Personal information of an officer, or the officer's immediate family member. (linking police employees to any personal social media accounts they may have)
g. Defamatory or personal attacks. h. Threats to any person or organization
i. Encouragement of illegal activity
The Kaysville Police Department will also remove any comments that are inappropriate or offensive, including comments that: defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or violate the legal rights of others; include racism, hatred, slander, threats, obscenity, violence; and/or vulgarity spam or advertisements that have personal information about another person or that violate a person's privacy; include copyrighted material that belongs to another person; contain links to inappropriate websites clearly off topic. The Kaysville Police Department may use social media as a method of effectively informing the public about department services, issues, investigations and other relevant events. Department members shall ensure that the use or access of social media is done in a manner that protects the constitutional rights of all. The Kaysville Police Department welcomes a person's right to express his/her opinion and encourages posters to keep comments related to content on this page. Comments posted by others on the Kaysville Police Department page(s) are not to be considered the opinion of the Kaysville Police Department; nor does Kaysville Police Department endorse any third-party comments on this page. The Kaysville Police Department reserves the right to remove and/or block anyone who posts inappropriate material as determined by the Kaysville Police Department. The Posting and Takedown Terms do not allow posting of photos or videos by anyone other than authorized members of the Kaysville Police Department.
