I see that yesterday was but I still want to share my beautiful girl who was the absolute BEST in the world. She would have laughed at me being late to post this. I live to celebrate her and her brother every day because they were phenomenal human beings that I still cannot believe we had the privilege to share the best years of our life with. Daughters have a place in the heart that no other can replicate. Thank you Meagan Michelle Rough for giving me purpose to life and for staying plugged into me somehow from another world, at heart… in spirit. I love you sister 🥰🥰🥰

Please remember that while tailgating this year during football season, to plan more than what goes on the grill and who to invite. Plan the safe ride home

Just let that soak in a minute as you prepare for the weekend ahead, or an hour from now. How about next month? Homecoming, Jubilee and football season.

Pick your plan TODAY

Tomorrow is New Years Eve and time to finally leave 2020 in the past where it belongs. I could show you unimaginable visuals of images that flash across my thoughts multiple times a day that will SINK your stomach or will make you, for a few seconds, feel bad for those of us who have lost our loved ones to intoxicated driving; and I could remind you of the enormous COST it can be to you and your family or tell you about the guy living in a penitentiary who killed Meagan. But I won’t. Not this time.

What I WILL do is put your mind to the first morning of 2021. I will show you what you can wake up to and fast forward to your first phone call of the day Friday morning. I want your heart to be at peace as you read these words this time , as you hear that call or visualize that text to tell your favorite family member Happy New Year. Maybe it’s your mom or dad, your son or daughter, one of your grandparents, best friend or sibling, someone you work with.... ANYONE who you cannot wait to tell how Awesome the night before was.

Will it be a wild and free kind of night with a keg or beer cooler iced down, a fun and full of laughter night with one mixed drink after the next, or a chill and calm night by a fire with a few glasses of whiskey or wine? If you must indulge this way, all I’m asking is for you to make a couple of plans ahead of time. That is all. If your next purchase over the next 24 hours is to stock up at the liquor store or beer section of the grocery store, please don’t forget the most important thing of all.

Plan your stay where you drink, or plan a sober ride home. If you can afford the alcohol, but don’t leave enough money to get home safely, I’ll pay for it. Just text mour foundation and a ride is on the way (972-515-1589) and we will never know who you are. No names required.

Just don’t let your sunrise view be cinderblock walls covered in urine; your first phone call be that you killed someone or need someone to post your bond out of jail; or someone else calling your family for you through the sound of medical equipment beeping because you are too injured to make the call yourself.

GO for that front porch sunrise with those you love. Have a dog waiting on you to get back home so he can go out to p*e and will be hungry for the next 12 hours until someone remembers him? Think that one through if you don’t make it back. Better yet, don’t get so out of control that YOU are the topic of everyone else’s phone calls on Friday morning. And one last point, you do not have to be wild or out of control for the worst to happen. Buzzed driving is still drunk driving.

Just do the right thing and MAKE 2021 better from the MOMENT it is upon us. Be a better you and PLEASE take the easy step TODAY before your lunch break, to put your plan in place and then have a backup ready. Save the number above however you choose to label it and a ride will be on its way, no matter where you are.
