🚔 CONGRATULATIONS, CADET RODRIGUEZ! 🚔

Please join us in congratulating Cadet Kevin Rodriguez on graduating from the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy on Tuesday, September 1! 🎉

This is a huge accomplishment and the result of months of hard work, dedication, training, and determination. But the exciting part is… his journey is just getting started! 👏

Cadet Rodriguez will soon officially join the Katy Police Department, and we are excited to welcome him to the KPD family and watch him begin his career serving the Katy community. 🚓💙

Also in attendance to support Cadet Rodriguez was Lt. McClure, KPD’s Recruiting Lieutenant. Lt. McClure plays an important role in helping guide our future officers through the recruiting and hiring process, and we appreciate him being there to represent KPD and celebrate this milestone.

Heading out for the long weekend? Whether you’re traveling by car, plane, or boat, a little planning can help keep your holiday safe and stress-free!

A few friendly reminders before the weekend fun begins:

🔹 Plan ahead – Holiday traffic happens. Pack your patience, leave a little early, and remember…the BBQ will still be there when you arrive. 😉🍔

🔹 Buckle up – Every seat. Every ride. Every time. We want everyone making it home safely.

🔹 Put the phone down – Your phone can ride sh***un, but it doesn’t need to help you drive. 📵

🔹 Have a safe ride home – If your celebration includes alcohol, plan ahead or call a rideshare for a safe ride home.

🔹 Lock it up – Before heading out, take a minute to lock your doors, windows, and vehicles. A quick check can give you some extra peace of mind while you’re away.

🔹 Rest before you roll – Long drive ahead? Get some rest and take breaks when you need them. Coffee is helpful, but it’s not a superhero. ☕😴

📚💙 A Special Thank You to the Black Family! 💙📚

The Katy Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kevin Black and the Black family for their generous donation of copies of Raising A Hand to our department.

Created by Kevin Black, brother of country music artist Clint Black, and photographer Dave Clements, Raising A Hand is a special collection featuring photographs of musicians and artists captured “raising a hand.” 🎶🤠📸

During his visit, Kevin took some time to share the history and inspiration behind the book with Chief Woytek and several of our officers. The project was created in honor of Kevin’s daughter, who passed away from Rett syndrome at the age of 16, with a mission of raising awareness and supporting Rett syndrome research. 💜

Kevin, thank you for taking the time to visit with us, share Courtney's story and the meaning behind Raising A Hand, and for generously providing books for our officers and employees. We are grateful to the Black family for thinking of the Katy Police Department! 💙🚔

🎉🚓We had a special visitor at the Katy Police Department! Bo came by to celebrate his fifth birthday, dressed in his very own police officer uniform. 👌 His wish was to meet our officers in person. His wish came true! 💙

A huge thank you to Officers Mohr and Garsee for making this day so special! During his visit, he was able to sit in our new black and white unit, and he was absolutely thrilled! 🚔 Seeing his excitement reminded us of the joy of community connections.

Happy birthday, Bo! We’re so glad we could share this special moment with you! 🥳✨

We know you’re curious.
We see the comments.
We hear the questions. 👀

“Why are there so many officers?”
“Why are all the fire trucks headed that way?”
“Does anybody know what’s happening?”
(We know someone already asked Facebook.) 😅

Every emergency is different, but we thought we’d have a little fun and share this guide to help explain what you might be seeing when multiple Katy Police officers and Katy Fire Department crews are responding to a call.

🚨 Remember: This is all in good fun, but the most important thing you can do when you see emergency vehicles is give first responders room to work, slow down, move over when required, and allow them to do what they do best.

And when it looks like every police officer, firefighter, and ambulance in Katy is headed to the same place… it’s probably safe to say someone is having a very busy day.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today, we celebrate our incredible canine companions Sky & Mac at the Katy Police Department and honor all the four-legged heroes who have served alongside us in the past. Your loyalty, bravery, and unwavering support mean the world to us and our community. 💙

From sniffing out danger to spreading joy, our dogs have made an indelible mark on our hearts and our work. Thank you to our current K9s and the ones who have retired, your legacy continues to inspire us every day!
