Yesterday, Willowfork Fire Department was honored to welcome members and families of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) to our station for a meaningful celebration of Raksha Bandhan – Universal Oneness Day.
Raksha Bandhan is a tradition symbolizing protection, gratitude, and the bond of care. Children and families tied rakhis on the wrists of our firefighters as a gesture of appreciation, respect, and wishes for their well-being.
We are incredibly grateful to HSS for recognizing our firefighters in such a special way. There is something especially meaningful about being honored by the very community we are privileged to serve.
Moments like these remind us that the fire service is about more than responding to emergencies—it is about relationships, trust, connection, and community.
Thank you, HSS, for sharing this beautiful tradition with us and for your heartfelt expression of gratitude. We were truly honored to celebrate with you.

We teased it… and now it’s time to mark your calendars! 📅
Willowfork Fire, in partnership with Fort Bend County Homeland Security & Emergency Management, is excited to bring Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training to our community!
CERT is all about giving everyday people the knowledge, skills, and confidence to help themselves, their families, their neighbors, and their community when an emergency or disaster happens. No first responder experience required—just a willingness to learn and a heart for helping your community.

🔹 Sept. 11 | 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
🔹 Sept. 12 | 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
🔹 Sept. 13 | 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

For CERT participants, this is one complete 3-day course, and attendance is required throughout the weekend. This condensed format allows participants to complete CERT Basic Training in one weekend instead of over 8–9 weeks.
During this hands-on training, participants will learn about 🔥 fire suppression, 🚑 basic emergency medical care, 🌪️ disaster preparedness, 🔍 light search and rescue techniques, and other important topics taught by professional first responders.

TROPICAL STORM EDOUARD UPDATE | Tuesday Morning

Tropical Storm Edouard has strengthened overnight and is expected to continue strengthening as it approaches the northwestern Gulf Coast later today. According to the latest National Hurricane Center advisory, Edouard could approach hurricane strength before reaching the coast.

For Fort Bend County, heavy rainfall and the potential for street flooding are possible.

Here is what the farther reaching area may experience if you have travel plans:

🌧️ Heavy rain will impact portions of the Upper Texas Coast today and Wednesday as Edouard moves inland.
⚠️ Flash flooding is possible, particularly in urban, low-lying and flood-prone areas or where heavy rain repeatedly moves over the same locations.
🌊 Area streams and rivers will be monitored for potential rises as rainfall continues.
🌀 Tropical storm warning is in effect for portions of the coast; Fort Bend County is not currently under a Tropical Storm Warning.

While Edouard’s center is forecast to remain east of Fort Bend County, the forecast cone only represents the probable track of the storm’s center — impacts can extend well outside the cone.

Stay weather-aware today. Keep multiple ways to receive alerts, use caution during periods of heavy rainfall, and never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway.

Willowfork Firefighters Injured in Apparatus Crash While Assisting at Ross Fire

Palo Pinto County, Texas
August 28, 2026

Willowfork Firefighters responded Tuesday to a request for assistance at the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County, joining other emergency crews in efforts to protect lives, homes, and property threatened by the wildfire.
Willowfork firefighters worked through the night and well into Wednesday, protecting homes and supplying water to other fire vehicles actively engaged in the response.

On Thursday morning, the crew was traveling to another area of the fire when a truck pulling a large trailer lost control of the trailer. The trailer crossed into the path of the Willowfork fire apparatus and struck the vehicle head-on. The fire apparatus sustained major damage in the collision, and firefighters are being treated for their injuries.

“We are extremely grateful for the support our firefighters have received following this incident,” said Fire Chief Billy Wilson. “Our crews answered the call to help protect the communities affected by the Ross Fire, working long hours under difficult conditions. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and professionalism and will continue to support our firefighters as they recover.”

The Willowfork Fire Department extends its appreciation to the firefighters and emergency personnel working the Ross Fire, as well as those who responded to the scene of the vehicle crash and assisted the Willowfork crew.
The department is assessing the damage to the fire apparatus and will continue to support the firefighters involved as they recover from the incident.

Fort Bend County has issued an outdoor burn ban for all unincorporated areas of the county, effective today, August 27, at 5 p.m.

Extreme heat, worsening drought conditions, and limited rainfall have significantly increased the risk of wildfires. As of today, Fort Bend County’s Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) is 634 on a scale of 0–800, indicating significantly dry conditions and an increased potential for fire activity.

🚫 While the burn ban is in effect, outdoor burning is prohibited in unincorporated Fort Bend County. This includes:
• Burning trash or debris
• Campfires
• Burn barrels
• Other open-flame burning that is not fully contained as required by the County’s order

🔥 Please do your part to prevent wildfires. Even a small spark can quickly become dangerous under these dry conditions. Use extra caution with anything that could ignite dry grass or vegetation, including discarded ci******es, hot equipment, welding, and vehicles parked over dry grass.

The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office will continue monitoring drought and weather conditions. The burn ban may be rescinded when conditions improve.

🚒 Willowfork Firefighters Answer the Call

Willowfork Firefighters are currently responding to assist our fellow firefighters in North Texas battling the Ross Fire.

🚛 Tanker 81 is en route and is expected to arrive shortly after midnight to assist with firefighting operations.

Please keep all of the firefighters and communities affected by this fire in your thoughts as they work through the night. Stay safe, brothers and sisters. 🙏🚒

A large wildfire which sparked Monday in North Texas has rapidly expanded, burning 50,000 acres in just 24 hours and sparking a large response from multiple agencies, including some from Southeast Texas.
