Monday night, members of the Katonah, Bedford Hills, and Bedford Village Fire Departments came together for a joint training on motor vehicle fires at Katonah Fire Headquarters.

Using a box truck donated by Castle Towing, members completed multiple evolutions on our burn pad, focusing on hose-line operations, communication, and leadership. The drill also provided an opportunity to strengthen interdepartmental cooperation.

We’re always happy to train with our neighboring departments and take advantage of opportunities to work together, share knowledge, and continue building on our skills.

Thank you to Castle Towing for providing the box truck and helping make this training possible.

On Friday evening, August 7, Katonah Fire Department Tanker 6 and Car 2212 were standing by in Ossining during the Ossining Fire Department’s annual parade, alongside members of the Mt. Kisco, Piermont, and Spring Valley Fire Departments.

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., the standby companies were dispatched to a report of smoke in the structure at the Parth Knolls apartment complex on Hawkes Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions involving the roof of Building 1.

Car 2212 assisted with water supply operations, while Tanker 6 participated in a water shuttle supporting operations at the scene. Katonah personnel remained on scene for several hours, with Tanker 6 being released at approximately 1:15 a.m.

The Katonah Fire Department was honored to participate in the Tenth Annual Leary Firefighters Challenge held at the FDNY training academy at the FDNY Firefighter Training Academy ("The Rock") on Randall's Island on May 1.

The Leary Foundation, founded by Denis Leary in 2000 is the only foundation in the United States that provides annual grants to paid and volunteer fire departments for equipment, tools and training.

Captain Jason Lafond, Captain Ryan Hayes and Lieutenant Chris Langworth joined other participants and celebrities in various evolutions such as rappelling down a six story apartment building, working on a simulated subway car rescue, experiencing a flashover burn simulator, and participating in an airplane crash response simulation. FDNY instructors including active KFD members Mike Matteo and Anthony DeGeorge provided valuable guidance and instruction.

It was an exciting and amazing event and we were proud to be part of a very special day. We want to thank the Leary Foundation for their kindness and the FDNY instructors for their professionalism and making us feel at home at their academy.

NO PARKING FOR THE KATONAH FIRE DEPARTMENT PARADE

Please be advised that there will be no street parking beginning at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, along the streets listed in the notice above, due to the annual Katonah Fire Department Parade.

We kindly ask all residents and visitors to move their vehicles before the posted time to help ensure a safe and successful event for participants, spectators, and emergency personnel.

We appreciate your cooperation, patience, and continued support of our volunteer firefighters and the annual parade tradition. Thank you for helping make this community event possible, and we look forward to seeing everyone along the parade route!

🇺🇸 MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY 🇺🇸

Join us at Katonah Fire Headquarters at 10:00 AM for a Memorial Day Ceremony honoring and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Due to anticipated weather conditions, and out of concern for older adults and children both watching and participating, the parade portion of the event will not be held.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend

Strong Storms Bring Busy Night for KFD

Yesterday evening at approximately 5:30 PM, the Town of Bedford was impacted by a severe line of thunderstorms that moved rapidly through the area, causing widespread damage.

Just before the storm, our department responded mutual aid to Goldens Bridge for a structure fire at the new Mercedes-Benz dealership. Tanker 6, Ladder 39, and Cars 2211 and 2213 responded. Upon clearing the scene, units diverted and began handling multiple calls throughout the district.

Over the course of the next six hours, our members responded to numerous calls involving fallen trees on roadways, along with multiple reports of wires down and burning.

During continued post storm operations, Tanker 6 was also requested to stand by at Croton Fire Department Station 2 while they operated at a structure fire in their district.
