🚨 HELP US IDENTIFY THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR VANDALISM!

The Karnes City Police Department is investigating an incident of graffiti vandalism involving the new Karnes City Park stone sign and multiple sidewalk areas located on the Highway 123 side near the old overpass and the park.

The sign was recently vandalized with spray paint, damaging a new community improvement project.

This isn’t just damage to a sign, it’s damage to a community investment. Projects like this are made possible through taxpayer dollars and community resources. When public property is vandalized, the cost of repairs ultimately impacts the taxpayers and the community as a whole.

🚨 The Karnes City Police Department is aware of the recent “Cat in the Hat” trend circulating on social media. We understand that some of the posts may appear concerning, and we want to reassure our community that there is no reason to panic or be afraid simply because you see someone participating in this trend.

The trend itself is not a criminal offense. However, individuals should understand that any threats or criminal conduct made in connection with the trend may be investigated and could result in criminal charges.

⚠️ Any credible threat involving serious bodily injury, bodily injury, or death will be taken seriously and investigated. If the person responsible for making such a threat can be identified or located, criminal charges may be filed when the facts and applicable law support those charges.

We encourage everyone to:
• Stay calm and avoid spreading rumors or unverified information.
• Do not share or amplify threatening content.
• Report anything that appears to be a genuine or credible threat.
• If you see something suspicious, report it to law enforcement rather than attempting to investigate it yourself.

We are also aware of reports concerning the individual associated with creating the trend being arrested. Please remember that information circulating on social media may not always be accurate or complete.

Bottom line: Don’t panic. Stay aware, use good judgment, and report credible threats or suspicious activity to law enforcement.

Your safety remains our priority.

On August 10, 2026, officers with the Karnes City Police Department, assisted by the Kenedy Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence in Kenedy, Texas.

During the search, officers seized approximately 49.9 grams of methamphetamine, 7.06 grams of co***ne, 1.10 pounds of ma*****na, and approximately 46 grams of THC-infused oil contained in v**e pens. Officers also recovered four fi****ms, $1,473 in U.S. currency, numerous packaging materials, and a digital scale containing suspected narcotics residue.

Two individuals were arrested and charged with offenses including:

• Possession of a Controlled Substance PG-1 – Methamphetamine
• Possession of a Controlled Substance PG-1 – Co***ne
• Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG-1 – Methamphetamine
• Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG-1 – Co***ne
• Possession of a Controlled Substance PG-2
• Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG-2
• Possession of Ma*****na

The Karnes City Police Department would like to thank the Kenedy Police Department for their assistance with the ex*****on of the search warrant.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Congratulations to SRO Sergeant Jose Maldonado and SRO Officer Adam Trujillo on successfully completing the TCOLE #41505 Master Training on August 7, 2026!

We’re proud of the time, dedication, and effort they continue to put into becoming better officers and better resources for our schools and community.

Investing in the safety of our community, especially our kids and schools is a huge priority for the Karnes City Police Department. Having well trained School Resource Officers who are prepared, present, and committed to building relationships with our students is something we’re proud to support.

Strong partnerships make a stronger community. By working together, sharing resources, and supporting one another, we’re better equipped to keep our communities safe.

The U.S. Marshals Service requested assistance in locating a wanted individual believed to be in the city of Kenedy.

On Saturday, officers with the Kenedy Police Department responded to a 911 hang-up call at a residence. During the investigation, officers determined that the wanted individual was at the location. After conducting a thorough investigation, following the proper legal procedures, and with the assistance of the Karnes City Police Department, officers were able to locate and apprehend Clinton Cooks. Despite Cooks barricading himself inside the residence, our trained officers safely and successfully took him into custody without further incident.

We would like to thank the Karnes City Police Department for their professionalism, cooperation, and willingness to work alongside us. We all share the same mission, keeping our communities and the citizens of Karnes County safe.

Attention Karnes City Residents:
The City of Karnes City has adopted a new ordinance regulating the use of golf carts, UTVs, and recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) on city streets.

Under the new ordinance:
✅ An annual permit and City-issued sticker/decal are required and must be obtained through City Hall BEFORE operating on public streets.
✅ Operators must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
✅ Vehicles must meet required safety equipment standards.
✅ Operation is limited to approved city streets with posted speed limits of 30 MPH or less.
❌ ATVs and other straddle-seat off-road vehicles are not permitted on public streets within city limits.

Please remember that failure to comply with the ordinance requirements may result in a citation, ticket issuance, and/or municipal fines.

As you’re out celebrating, we have just a few reminders:

• Fireworks are not allowed within the Karnes City limits.
• If you’re celebrating outside the city limits where fireworks are permitted, please use them safely and responsibly.
• If your plans include alcohol, please don’t get behind the wheel. Plan for a designated driver or a safe ride home.
• Watch out for our kids, be patient with the extra traffic, and look out for one another.

We’re proud to serve a community that always comes together, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to keep Karnes City safe this holiday.
