It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm to make this announcement. My name is Jo Ann Hargrave Housden and I am running for Chief of Police in Kaplan in 2018. Relying on my 30 plus years in law enforcement with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, I will bring to Kaplan a much needed professional police presence and reliability. I have spoken to many citizens of Kaplan and they have expressed th
eir concerns that also reflect my own, which is to bring back professionalism, responsibility, respect and accountability to the citizens of Kaplan and their police department. I feel that a well trained department will reinstate the faith and trust of YOUR police department which will benefit the citizens of this town. Having been born and raised in Kaplan, this is truly where my heart is. Following my late father, Ewill Hargrave’s footsteps, I have been a lifelong law enforcement officer and if given the HONOR to serve as YOUR Chief, I PLEDGE to always be there for the people of Kaplan. It has been my experience that officer training is paramount in having knowledgeable officers that you can trust to handle each and every complaint diligently in a professional and respectable manner. I believe that working closely with our city council, Mayor and City Judge will create unity that upholds due process for everyone, bringing peace, security and accountability back to OUR COMMUNITY, that we call home. In the future I will have meet and greets and also walk door to door to personally hear your concerns. I believe that a mutual respect must be shared so that we can get back our community where you the citizens are proud of YOUR police department.
