We are sadden today to announce that we have lost one of our own Ms. Angel Marceaux. Ms. Angel has been a dispatcher for the department for many years and was always the Momma Bear to everyone. To explain her is very simple. She never met a stranger, and loved everyone that she crossed paths with. But most of all she loved her family. We will truly miss you Ms. Angel, watch over us!!!

The Kaplan Police Department is proud to unveil our new stone garden, located at the front of the department.

This special space has been created in honor and memory of Assistant Chief Virgie LeMaire, who dedicated over 30 years of service to the City of Kaplan. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment to this department and community will never be forgotten.

This garden stands as a lasting tribute to her legacy—a place of reflection, respect, and remembrance for all who pass by.

Thank you, Assistant Chief LeMaire, for your service, your leadership, and your love for this department. Your watch may be over, but we have it from here.

Rest easy. 💙

The Kaplan Police Department believes that continued learning and strong leadership help us better serve our community.

Chief Joshua Hardy and Assistant Chief Robert LeMay recently completed the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy leadership program, which focuses on communication, ethical leadership, decision-making, and strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities we serve.

Across the United States there are more than 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers, and less than 1% complete the full FBI-LEEDA Trilogy program and receive the Trilogy Award.

Training like this helps ensure the Kaplan Police Department continues growing, improving, and providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Kaplan.

Our commitment remains simple: working together with our community to keep Kaplan a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

🚔 Kaplan Police Department

We’ve seen a few comments saying traffic enforcement is about “making money.”

Let’s clear something up.

If revenue was the goal, the solution would be simple:
Just drive however you want and we’d write tickets all day.

But that’s not the goal.

The goal is that everyone in Kaplan gets home safely at the end of the day. That means slowing down, wearing seatbelts, and not driving impaired.

The easiest way to avoid a ticket in Kaplan is actually very simple:

✔ Follow the law
✔ Drive responsibly
✔ Respect the road

Our officers would much rather wave at you driving safely than meet you during a traffic stop.

Kaplan is a small community.
We’re here to protect it.

Drive safe. 💙

No, that doesn’t mean we left. 👀

Drive right.
Or we’ll meet properly.

This morning, our department and our city lost one of our own — Retired Assistant Chief Virgie LeMaire.

To many, she was tough as nails. She carried herself with strength, confidence, and a standard that never wavered. But behind that toughness was a heart that was always willing to help anyone in need. If you needed guidance, protection, or simply someone to stand beside you, Assistant Chief LeMaire was there.

She dedicated over 30 years of service to the City of Kaplan. She served with compassion, integrity, and a deep love for this town and its people. Kaplan wasn’t just where she worked — it was who she worked for. She believed in this community and protected it with everything she had.

She also loved every officer who served under her watch. She pushed them to be better, stood up for them, and treated them like family. The impact she made on this department will never be forgotten.

Her legacy of strength, loyalty, and service will live on in each of us who continue the mission.

Rest easy, Assistant Chief LeMaire. We have it from here.

Please keep her family, friends, and our department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

🚔 Kaplan Police Department – Friday & Weekend Reminder

The weekend is here, Kaplan.

Friday night lights.
Family gatherings.
Ballgames.
Backyard cookouts.
A little more traffic. A little later nights.

We love seeing our community enjoying life.

But here’s your friendly reminder 👇

✔️ If you’re going out, have a plan to get home safely.
✔️ Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle.
✔️ Lock your doors.
✔️ Watch out for your neighbors.
✔️ Slow down — especially in residential areas.

Our officers will be out all weekend — visible, proactive, and ready.

Not to ruin anyone’s fun.
But to make sure everyone makes it home safely.

Kaplan is at its best when we look out for one another.

If you’re committed to a safe weekend, drop a 💙 below.

Let’s make it a good one.

🚔 Kaplan Police Department – Thursday

Visibility matters.

When you see a patrol unit sitting in a parking lot…
When you notice an officer driving slowly through your neighborhood…
When you spot us parked near a closed business late at night…

That’s not “just sitting.”

That’s deterrence.
That’s prevention.
That’s presence.

A police car in the right place at the right time can stop a crime before it ever happens.

Today, our officers will continue doing the work you may not always notice — but that makes a difference every single day.

Kaplan deserves proactive policing.
Kaplan deserves protection with professionalism.
Kaplan deserves presence.

If you’ve noticed increased patrols in your area, drop your neighborhood in the comments 👇

We’re out there.

🚔 Kaplan Police Department – Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Here’s the truth.

Most of what we do, you’ll never see.

You won’t see the extra patrol through your neighborhood at 2AM.
You won’t see the officer sitting in the dark watching a closed business.
You won’t see the check-in on an elderly resident who lives alone.
You won’t see the quiet conversation that keeps a bad decision from becoming a life-changing mistake.

And that’s okay.

Because this badge isn’t about being seen.
It’s about being present.

Kaplan is not just where we work.
It’s where we raise families.
It’s where our kids go to school.
It’s home.

We will continue to show up.
We will continue to answer the call.
We will continue to protect this city with professionalism and integrity.

If you support your local officers, drop a 💙 in the comments.

Let’s remind everyone what community looks like.
