Training never stops at Kansasville Fire and Rescue! 🚑🩺

On Monday May 11th our EMS providers trained on the assessment and management of hip fractures, pelvic fractures, and the important differences between the two injuries. Crews reviewed patient assessment techniques, stabilization methods, treatment considerations, and how these injuries can present differently in emergency situations.

Members also practiced proper helmet removal techniques to ensure safe spinal precautions while caring for injured patients.

Ongoing training like this helps our department stay prepared to provide the best possible care to the communities we serve. Thank you to all of our members who continue dedicating their time to training and improving their skills! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

On Monday April 13th Kansasville Fire and Rescue continues to prioritize high-quality patient care through ongoing EMS training, with a recent focus on heat-related emergencies and trauma assessment and management. As temperatures rise and outdoor activity increases, responders must be prepared to quickly recognize and treat conditions such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and dehydration—especially in vulnerable populations like children and older adults.
During the training, EMS personnel reviewed the signs and symptoms of heat emergencies, practiced rapid cooling techniques, and reinforced the importance of early intervention. Scenario-based exercises allowed crews to simulate real-world responses, improving decision-making and teamwork under pressure.
In addition, members sharpened their trauma assessment skills using a systematic approach to patient evaluation. Emphasis was placed on identifying life-threatening injuries, managing airway and bleeding, and performing rapid yet thorough head-to-toe assessments. Crews also practiced spinal precautions, hemorrhage control, and prioritizing transport decisions.
By combining classroom instruction with hands-on scenarios, Kansasville Fire and Rescue ensures its providers remain confident and capable in high-stress situations. This commitment to training not only enhances responder readiness but also strengthens the level of care delivered to the community when it matters most.

🚒⏰ Kansasville Fire & Rescue Reminder – Spring Forward Safely! ⏰🚒

This weekend we spring forward as Daylight Saving Time begins. When you change your clocks, please take a few minutes to do something even more important — check and replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Working detectors save lives. A fresh set of batteries can provide the early warning your family needs in the event of a fire or carbon monoxide emergency.

✅ Change your clocks
✅ Replace batteries in smoke detectors
✅ Replace batteries in carbon monoxide detectors
✅ Test each unit to make sure it’s working properly

It only takes a few minutes, but it can make all the difference.

Kansasville Fire & Rescue Department is proud to serve our community and help keep our neighbors safe. Thank you for doing your part!

🔥 Change Your Clocks. Change Your Batteries. Save Lives. 🔥
