Artskc - Regional Arts Council, Charlotte Street, and The Hall Family Foundation are transforming arts investment to honor and amplify the creative power alive in Kansas City, announcing the launch of the Creative Confluence Fund, a two-year, $1.4 million pilot grant program supporting artists and arts-engaged organizations in three key geographic areas.

Creative Confluence Fund features two streams of support and prioritizes the historically divested neighborhoods of Northeast Kansas City, East Side Kansas City, and Northeastern Wyandotte County, Kansas.

Ten individual artists living and working in these neighborhoods will receive $50,000 over two years to lead community-informed projects. The second stream of support will grant $50,000 to 15 small arts organizations over two years for capacity-building, bolstering their programming accessibility and impact in the priority neighborhoods. These funding opportunities are open to all artistic disciplines.

Orange EV, the leading manufacturer of zero-emission terminal trucks, recently announced the establishment of the Orange EV Cares Scholarship at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC), endowed through a gift from Orange EV Co-Founder Wayne Mathisen.

The scholarship honors the role Orange EV employees play in the ongoing success of the company. Since its founding in 2012, Orange EV has grown its Kansas City, Kansas headquarters and production facility into a regional hub for skilled manufacturing, where the company designs and manufactures zero-emission electric terminal trucks and battery-integrated EV fast chargers. Give blood. Give hope. Help save a life. 🩸

Blood donations have been lagging in recent weeks, making it especially important to replenish our region’s blood supply for the patients who depend on it every day.

On Friday, September 11, Community Blood Center is hosting a blood drive with the National WWI Museum and Memorial, and you can help.

For more than 65 years, Community Blood Center has served Kansas and Missouri, providing 150,000 lifesaving blood products each year to more than 85 area hospitals, EMS providers and healthcare partners. Those donations support new mothers, cancer patients, accident victims, people living with sickle cell disease and many others throughout our community.

One donation can make a meaningful difference. Roll up your sleeve and help ensure blood is available when our neighbors need it most.

The Kansas City Symphony announced the appointment of Betsy Burleigh as director of the Kansas City Symphony Chorus, the 160-voice ensemble long recognized as the choral voice of the Kansas City Symphony. Burleigh, an internationally acclaimed choral conductor, educator and director, will lead the Symphony Chorus in performances with the Kansas City Symphony and guide the ensemble’s continued artistic growth.

The Kansas City Symphony first welcomed Burleigh as guest chorus director in spring 2026, when she prepared the Symphony Chorus for performances of Rachmaninoff’s Spring and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. From her first rehearsal, she earned the admiration of Chorus members and Symphony staff through her exceptional musicianship, insightful leadership and warm, collaborative approach.
