Thank you to the NKC Schools Education Foundation and donors who have made this possible. We are so thankful for the support! This makes a positive impact on our students, families and community. Thank you for fueling the future!❤️

Because of generous donors and support from the NKC Schools Education Foundation, 2,116 students across North Kansas City Schools ended the school year with meal debt cleared.

Together, $40,000 in meal debt relief helped support students and families in a meaningful, immediate way.

This effort cleared balances for every graduating senior with meal debt, all students who qualify for free or reduced lunch, and 500 additional students from elementary through high school across the district.

For families, this kind of support can ease stress. For students, it removes one more obstacle so they can focus on learning, growing, and moving forward.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Together, we are creating bright futures across NKC Schools.

Today, two organizations. One message. One mission. And 80 years of proof that school meals change lives.

For 80 years, school nutrition professionals have shown up before the school doors opened.

They fed children through recessions. Through a pandemic. Through budget cuts and policy discussions and moments when no one was watching.

SNA and are taking that message to Congress.

Side by side with people who believe that a hungry child cannot learn. On the 80th anniversary of the National School Lunch Act. Not to ask for attention. To make sure the people writing the laws understand what is actually at stake in every school cafeteria in this country.

💬 If you could say one thing to Congress about school meals today, what would it be? Drop it in the comments. Or simply drop “Fund School Meals!” if you stand with school meals!

Let’s share what 80 years of showing up looks like!

What can you buy with $4.70?

A latte. A bag of chips.

Or: a complete school lunch, meeting strict federal nutrition standards requiring fruits, vegetables, whole grains, protein and milk.

That’s right! Schools get just $4.70 to cover the cost of a lunch.

After paying for staff, equipment, utilities, supplies, and federal compliance, less than half goes to the actual food.

And every single morning, school cafeteria teams are showing up anyway.

💬 Share this if you think the people feeding 30 million kids deserve more than this.

💬 And share in the comments what did your team serve in your schools? Let’s see what you make possible!
