Honored and incredibly grateful to share that Redemptorist Social Services Center has been selected as an Impact 100 organization.

This recognition is a powerful reminder that small but mighty organizations can create lasting impact when compassion, community, and collaboration come together. Every day, we have the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families facing food insecurity, homelessness, financial hardship, and other challenges, helping provide not only resources, but dignity, hope, and stability.

This honor belongs to our incredible staff, volunteers, donors, partners, community, and every person who believes in our mission. It takes a village to serve our community each week, and we are deeply thankful for the support that allows this work to continue and grow.

As we approach 40 years of service, we remain committed to meeting people where they are, expanding access to resources, and building stronger pathways toward stability for our community.

Thank you to Impact 100 for believing in the work happening at Redemptorist Center. We are humbled, inspired, and excited for what is ahead. ❤️

Today, we honor and celebrate all Mothers and those who love with a Mother’s heart. Your love, strength, sacrifice, and compassion help shape our communities every day.

At Redemptorist Center, we are especially grateful for the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and women who continue to provide hope and support to their families through life’s challenges.

May this Mother’s Day be filled with peace, love, and the reminder that you are deeply valued and appreciated. Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Redemptorist Center.

Tonight, we are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own.

Manuel “Rabbit” Hernandez will take his place in the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat at the Kansas City Royals game, a moment that honors not just a love of baseball, but a lifetime of impact.

Rabbit is more than a coach. He is a mentor, a leader, and a steady presence for generations of young people across Kansas City. For over three decades, he has poured his heart into youth, using sports to teach discipline, build confidence, and create opportunity. Many of those he has coached have come back years later to thank him for helping them stay on the right path and overcome life’s challenges.

At Redemptorist Center, Rabbit continues this legacy through our youth sports program, ensuring every child, regardless of circumstance, has a place to belong, grow, and succeed.

Tonight’s honor reflects the very spirit of Buck O'Neil: leadership, generosity, and a deep love for community.

We are proud. We are grateful. And we are inspired.

Congratulations, Rabbit. Kansas City is better because of you. ⚾

Today, we pause with heavy hearts as we remember and honor the life of Sister Loretto Marie Colwell.
Sr. Loretto dedicated her life to serving others with compassion, dignity, and unwavering faith. Her life’s work would come full circle as she returned to serve our community in profound and lasting ways.
She expanded services for individuals and families experiencing poverty, always emphasizing the importance of meeting each person with respect and care.
For us at Redemptorist Social Services Center, Sr. Loretto was more than a partner, she was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light.
She was deeply concerned about food insecurity and believed wholeheartedly that each person should be helped completely. For years, she and Sr. Marie Madeleine volunteered at our Center every single week, quietly showing up with clothing, diapers, and food, always attentive to the needs of others.
They also brought something more, small but powerful acts of joy. Each week after attending mass, they brought chocolate bars for those we serve, because they believed everyone deserved a sweet treat and a moment of kindness.
Sr. Loretto had a remarkable way of showing up at just the right time. She offered encouragement, wisdom, and steady support, especially during the early and challenging days of leadership. She lived what she believed, that care for others should extend beyond basic needs to the whole person, body, mind, and spirit.
Together, Sr. Loretto and Sr. Marie Madeleine were a beautiful example of lives rooted in service. They took little and gave so much, especially to those experiencing homelessness and hardship in our community.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the leaders she mentored, and the compassion she modeled so faithfully.
We are deeply grateful for her life, her leadership, and her friendship.
Please join us in keeping Sr. Loretto and all who loved her in your thoughts and prayers.
