📣 Policy Update: AFT Body Fat Exemption 📣

The U.S. Army Reserve has announced an updated body fat exemption policy connected to the Army Fitness Test (AFT).

This change supports Soldiers who exceed AFT performance standards, allowing qualifying individuals to be exempt from routine body fat measurements. It’s another step toward recognizing overall fitness and readiness—not just numbers on a tape.

✅ Check out the official Army Reserve post below for full details on the policy and how it may affect you.

✅ Leaders: make sure your Soldiers are informed so they can take advantage of this update.

Hot off the press, the previous ACFT exemption for body composition made it to the new AFT!

Just like the last exemption, Soldiers must score over 80 in each event and have a minimum score (now 465).

Stay Warm, Stay Safe: Carbon Monoxide Awareness

As temperatures drop, many of us turn to heaters, fireplaces, and generators—but remember, carbon monoxide (CO) is a silent, deadly threat.

☑️ Install and test CO detectors regularly.

☑️ Never use grills, camp stoves, or generators inside your home, garage, or any enclosed space.

☑️ If your detector alarms, head outside immediately and call 911.

The U.S. Army Reserve is reminding Soldiers and families to stay alert this winter. Tap the original post below for more safety tips and resources.

Let’s keep our communities safe while staying warm!

Carbon Monoxide and Home Safety

Stay carbon monoxide (CO) safe indoors as temperatures drop and heaters kick on; now’s the time to shield your home from invisible CO dangers. Awareness and preparation are key.

✅ Install Detectors: Place CO detectors on every floor of your home, especially near sleeping areas. They’re your first line of defense. Test all installed CO detectors to ensure they are operating properly.

✅ Generators or Charcoal Grills: Are meant for outdoor use only; they emit high levels of CO and must not be used indoors. Keep generators and grills upwind and 20 feet away from windows and doors.

✅ Ventilate Your Home: Proper ventilation helps to disperse CO and prevents dangerous levels from building up indoors. Opening windows or running exhaust fans, even in the cool months, can reduce CO buildup in your home.

✅ Know the Symptoms: Early symptoms of CO poisoning can be mistaken for flu-like symptoms. Watch for signs like headaches, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. If you suspect CO exposure, get to fresh air immediately and seek medical help.

✅ Avoid Idling Cars in Garages: Even with the door open, CO can creep into your home — shut the engine off as soon as you park.

✅ Educate Your Household: Make sure everyone knows where CO detectors are located and what to do if one goes off.

Good morning, Pioneers!

The U.S. Army Reserve just shared a great reminder about what Soldiers can—and can’t—do when it comes to politics. It’s important we all know the rules so we can stay squared away while still exercising our rights as citizens.

Take a minute to read it and keep yourself in the know. Staying professional protects you, the 209th RSG, the Army Reserve’s, and the trust of the people we serve.

Whether you are on or off duty, on orders or serving as TPU, understanding Army regulations is important to every Soldier.

On this , we honor their memory and legacy. .

August is Anti-Terrorism Awareness Month, and we’re sharing the Army Reserve’s reminder to stay ready.

Active shooter situations can happen anywhere — at work, on base, or in town. Knowing what to do can save lives. Stay sharp, look out for your battle buddies, and remember: if you see something, say something.

Stay safe. Stay ready.

🚨 Anti-Terrorism Awareness Month: Active Shooter Response 🚨

Your safety depends on how you prepare and respond in a crisis:

📞 Call 911 when it’s safe
👀 Stay alert to your surroundings
🚪 Know where the exits are
🔒 If in an office, stay put and secure the door
⚠️ Only confront the shooter as a last resort

Being prepared can save lives.

Always Watching, Always Coaching

During CSTX 25-02, Observer-Controller/Trainers (OC/Ts) from the 78th Training Division play a critical role in building readiness across the Army Reserve. From the moment the exercise begins until the last piece of equipment is packed, OC/Ts are on the ground — observing, evaluating, and mentoring Soldiers through every scenario.

Their expertise ensures that units not only meet training standards but also refine their skills for real-world missions. With every after-action review, OC/Ts provide feedback that sharpens Soldier performance, strengthens teamwork, and enhances mission success.
