Meet KCKPS Campus Officer Angelique Lee
For the past 25 years, Officer Angelique Lee has been a familiar face in the hallways of Sumner Academy, J.C. Harmon High School, and the old Northwest Middle School.

At six feet four inches tall, Lee is hard to miss. But for generations of students, it’s not her height that makes her memorable. It’s the way she shows up, greeting students as they pass, checking in on them and making sure they’re okay.

Long before she became a campus officer with Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, Lee was making an impression on the basketball court.

“I’ve always loved basketball. I started playing when I was 11-years-old. My mom bought me a basketball and we had a trashcan in the back. I would shoot the ball in the trashcan nearly every day,” she recalled. From there she began to play basketball with the boys in her neighborhood. “They developed me. They helped me grow as a player,” said Lee.
