In April, our community worked together to make a real impact.

📦 1,619 Market visits helped families access nutritious food.
🍽️ 5,295 meals were served through our Kitchen.
🤝 78 outreach contacts connected neighbors with critical resources.
🏠 3 individuals moved from homelessness into housing.
💚 1,092 volunteer hours were invested in serving others.
💰 That volunteer service represents an incredible labor value of $34,714.

Every meal served, every conversation, every hour volunteered, and every dollar invested helps create a stronger, more compassionate community.

We believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. This month, we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ members of our community and reaffirm our commitment to creating a welcoming space for all. Everyone who walks through our doors deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported exactly as they are.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we honor the courage, resilience, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals and families in Kansas City and beyond.

Together, we can build a community where everyone has access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.

We are especially grateful to our guest speaker, Matthew Kleinmann of Vibrant Health, for sharing such meaningful reflections on the long history of Cross-Lines and the importance of kindness, compassion, and working together to create a brighter future for all.

What happens when you mix a little friendly competition with a lot of generosity? Incredible impact. 💥

A huge thank you to Knit-Rite for an amazing food drive and for raising over $1,500 through their team “Food Fight” competition in support of Cross-Lines!

Their team brought creativity and energy to every step by dividing into six departments, assigning point values to needed items, tracking every donation, and keeping the excitement high with leaderboard updates along the way. With just one rule (“don’t steal from other teams” 😉), they let the spirit of competition and teamwork take over, and it paid off in a BIG way.

Because of Knit-Rite’s efforts, our shelves are fuller, and our community is stronger. We’re so grateful for partners who find fun, engaging ways to make a real difference.

We’re grateful to Mayor Christal Watson for joining our Outreach Team this morning alongside Cross-Lines staff, KCKFD, and the KCK Unified Government Health Department.
Together, we visited several sites across the community where unsheltered neighbors are currently living. It was a meaningful opportunity to share real conversations about the daily challenges individuals are facing, and the realities of navigating the systems meant to support them.
We appreciate Mayor Watson’s time, willingness to listen, and commitment to understanding these complex issues firsthand. We look forward to building a strong, positive partnership with her and her team as we continue this important work.
