Registration now open for virtual Mass Appraisal Symposium
Registration is now open for the virtual Mass Appraisal Valuation Symposium, presented by International Association of Assessing Officers and the International Property Tax Institute (IPTI) on June 24-25.

The symposium, covering “Current Challenges Opportunities for Mass Appraisal,” will be offered virtually and some of the topics include Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) vs Multiscale GWR (MGWR); fee simple vs. leased fee; using cost data in mass appraisal; transforming valuation in Australia; mass appraisal in South Africa; digital transformation of land valuation; dynamic housing price monitoring and forecasting system; evaluations of mass appraisal outcomes; assessing casinos using discounted cash flow; transparency and clarity in mass appraisal.

Registration fees are $225 USD for IAAO and IPTI members outside of Canada, and for groups of five or more from the same nonmember organizations. Rates for IAAO and IPTI members in Canada are $325 CAD. Nonmember rates are $290 USD for those outside of Canada and $415 CAD for Canadian nonmember registrants. The registration deadline is June 19.

The symposium sessions have been approved for 12 continuing education hours by IAAO, 10 by the Alberta Assessors' Association, and 9 by the Institute of Municipal Assessors. IAAO President Bill Healey, RES, met with the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) President Diane A Dumashie FRICS, CEDR, APM, PhD, BSc, at the recent FIG Congress in Cape Town, South Africa. Mr. Healey presented at the meeting on “Best Practices in U.S. Assessment.” IAAO Executive Director Amy Rasmussen, RES, AAS, FIAAO, also attended, and they met with representatives of the City of Cape Town, including IAAO member Justine KAHONDE (middle front row), Llewellyn Louw, Louise Muller, (back row left) IAAO member Sindiso Ntuta and Matthew Ferguson.
