Shelter KC: A Kansas City Rescue Mission Shelter KC is a Kansas City Rescue Mission helping Kansas City’s homeless men and women experience freedom from the past and hope for the future.

We believe the love of Jesus Christ changes lives. We've seen it happen here every day since 1950. Founded in 1950, Kansas City Rescue Mission offers relief, recovery and reentry services to homeless individuals surviving on Kansas City’s streets. Each service we provide is developed to offer a step up from the misery of homelessness along with the knowledge that there is hope in each new day! Kan

Immediate Need: Men’s & Women’s Underwear!

It may seem like a small thing, but clean underwear makes a huge difference in helping our guests feel comfortable, confident, and cared for.

We’re currently running extremely low on men’s and women’s underwear (all sizes needed). This is one of the most essential yet least donated items we receive.

Ernesto has completed 20 hours of Life Skills.
Cleveland has successfully completed Prep Phase and is advancing into Discipleship 1.
Mitch is advancing into Discipleship 2.

Recovery doesn't stop at personal transformation. It grows into service!

This past Service Work Sunday, the women of our Women's Center spent the day at Elysian Wellness Campus helping with gardening and outdoor projects. Through simple acts of service, they invested in their community while continuing to build confidence, purpose, and healthy habits along their own journeys.

We're grateful for opportunities like these that allow our residents to give back and experience the joy of serving others.

Some of the most beautiful moments at Shelter KC happen after graduation. These photos represent just a few of the many faces of transformation. Men and women who once walked through our doors searching for hope are now rebuilding their lives, restoring relationships, finding stability, pursuing purpose, and even serving alongside us in ministry and outreach.

Recovery is never just about overcoming addiction or homelessness. It’s about discovering that your story is not over.

Construction progress is moving upward and outward. Crews are actively installing exterior masonry while the building’s outer shell continues to take shape! Brick veneer is being laid along the lower level facade, creating both durability and a finished architectural look. Behind the brick, exterior insulation and weather barrier systems are visible, helping improve energy efficiency and protect the building from the elements.

Window installation and exterior panel systems are progressing across the upper floors, giving a clearer picture of the final appearance of the building. Structural framing and foundation work for the covered lower-level area are also visible as crews prepare the space for future use.

Every brick, panel, and finishing detail is another step toward creating a space built to serve the community for years to come!!

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom carries a cost and that service leaves a lasting impact.

This Memorial Day, we remember with gratitude and honor those who gave all.
