BPU is actively aware of power outages throughout the community. ⚠️

If you lose power, please report it to 913-573-9522 and leave your address. Our dispatch team monitors this line 24/7 and logs outages in real time so crews can respond as quickly as possible, when it becomes safe to do so.

If you see a downed power line, stay at least 35 feet away and report it immediately to 911. If you are experiencing any kind of an emergency, always call 911 first. Please stay safe & be mindful of our crews out in the field.

We are honored to have participated in Light Up Navajo for a second year and grateful to the Navajo Nation for allowing us to be part of such meaningful work.

A special thank you to President Buu Nygren for his leadership and commitment to bringing electricity to families across the Navajo Nation. Our BPU crews were proud to meet with him during our time in the Four Corners region this spring and witness firsthand the impact this effort is having on communities.

Service has no borders, and we are proud to represent all of Wyandotte County alongside utility partners from across the country to help make a difference.

To learn more about our Light Up Navajo experience, read our "Lighting the Way" feature in BPU's May Community Impact Report. Visit https://www.bpu.com/subscribetonewsletter.aspx and click "Download the Current Issue" to view the article.

This past school year, our Customer Care team partnered with students from J.C. Harmon and Wyandotte High School to help students apply what they've learned in class to real-world projects. Students explored BPU's business processes, conducted research, and presented their findings to leaders across multiple BPU departments.

Thank you to the students, teachers, and BPU employees for your hard work and collaboration! ✏️📖

As of 11:45 a.m., restoration efforts are still underway, with outages now down to around 130 customers from the initial 20,000 impacted at the height of the storm Monday night.

Most major service areas have been restored. Remaining outages are primarily isolated to individual homes and smaller pockets of customers impacted by issues such as fallen limbs on service lines feeding into homes.
Our crews continue working around the clock, and full restoration is still expected by late afternoon today.

We thank you for your patience and for supporting fellow neighbors and community members throughout these restoration efforts.

📞 If you are without power, continue reporting outages at (913) 573-9522
