This week, Board Member Frank Caro was inducted into the Missouri Area Council Hall of Fame, recognizing his dedication and service to Boys & Girls Clubs.

We’re also proud to congratulate former Board Member Cecilia Carter, who received the Missouri Area Council Liaison of the Year Award for her continued commitment to the Boys & Girls Club mission.

Frank and Cecilia have each given their time, leadership, and heart to help create opportunities for young people, and we’re thrilled to see their contributions recognized.

Congratulations, Frank and Cecilia! We’re grateful for all you have done, and continue to do, for Club kids. 💙👏

A Chiefs legend stopped by the Club!

While in Kansas City for the Chiefs home opener, Chiefs Hall of Fame kicker Nick Lowery made a special visit to our Thornberry Unit for a meet and greet with Club teens.

Nick shared stories from his journey and an inspirational message about perseverance, believing in yourself, and making the most of the opportunities in front of you. Our teens had the chance to ask questions, connect with a Kansas City sports legend, and each left with an autographed copy of Nick’s book.

Thank you, Nick, for spending time with our teens and encouraging the next generation of leaders.

Olathe Advisory Board Member Spotlight: Jacob Gerson💙

Jacob is a business and community leader with a background in entrepreneurship, technology, and community development. He currently serves as Executive Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer of The Gerson Companies, an international import and distribution company headquartered in Olathe, Kansas.

Prior to joining The Gerson Companies, Jacob was a member of the founding team and served as Director of Sales at Polly, a financial technology company based in San Francisco, CA and held multiple roles in sales and finance at Oracle Corp. in Redwood Shores, CA.

Jacob has served on the Clubs' Olathe Advisory Board since 2024 and is proud to support an organization dedicated to enriching educational and recreational opportunities for youth and families throughout the Olathe community.

Jacob is a graduate of the University of Virginia and currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri.

This past weekend, youth from our Thornberry Unit attended Keisha’s Annual Tea Party at The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures. The special event is held in memory of Keisha Clay, who previously served on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City team.

From tea-party treats and dress-up fun to exploring vintage toys and Keisha’s favorite dollhouse, there was plenty to discover. We loved watching our kids recognize toys from their own childhoods, too!

Thank you to Mrs. Carla Smocks for sharing the meaning behind this special tradition and making our Club members part of it. 💕
