When a 15-month-old girl drowned, Officer Nate Harper rescued her, earning his first of three Life-Saving awards at KCPD.

He was ready. The Navy helicopter medic, who was trained for search and rescue, and deployed to Kuwait and Croatia, knew what to do. Harper also had a heart for serving, leading him from the Navy to KCPD.

“That CPR call that I did on an infant, I went from that CPR call to a call for shoplifting,” Harper explained. “Each day is different here. It’s kind of neat because anything’s possible.”

Like many veterans, the father of four has learned that at KCPD, his military experience and unique skillset have value - https://kcpolice.org/media/news-releases/navy-veteran-is-a-true-lifesaver-at-kcpd/

While you were sleeping, officers were tirelessly working for public safety this weekend.

They took suspected drunk drivers off the streets, arrested those with warrants, recovered a stolen firearm from a suspected shooter, and assisted with medical calls.

That’s a glimpse of what they encountered and how they stepped up.
