Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness Hello and welcome to the page for the Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness!

We are Kansas City’s Lead Agency under the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care (CoC- 604). This is a network of government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other groups around the metro area working to help people who face homelessness. GKCCEH exists to unify and support a network of organizations in Jackson and Wyandotte Counties in their charge to address root causes of homelessness and increase stable housing.

At GKCCEH, we believe access to housing should be fair, efficient, and centered on those who need it most. That’s where YOU come in.

We’re looking for a Coordinated Entry Manager to help lead and strengthen how our community connects people experiencing homelessness to housing and services across the MO-604 Continuum of Care.

This role is all about impact:
🏠 Making sure the most vulnerable neighbors are prioritized for housing
🤝 Building strong partnerships with providers and community partners
📊 Using data to improve systems and outcomes
👥 Leading and supporting a dedicated team

Coordinated Entry is more than a process—it’s the pathway to stability. And this position plays a key leadership role in making that pathway work better for everyone.

We’re looking for someone who is:

✔ Passionate about equity and community impact
✔ Experienced in housing, human services, or related fields

This night never gets easier. And it shouldn’t.
We gather not to check a box or fulfill a duty, but to say their names, to hold space for lives that mattered deeply, even when the world failed to see them that way. Each name represents someone who laughed, loved, struggled, hoped, and deserved more time, more care, more dignity.
Leading this memorial is not about standing in front—it’s about standing with. With families who carry unimaginable grief. With outreach workers and providers who still feel the loss of people they fought so hard for. With a community that refuses to let these lives be forgotten or reduced to statistics.
This memorial matters because remembrance is an act of resistance. It says: You mattered. You still matter.
It reminds us why we do this work, why we keep showing up, and why compassion must always be louder than indifference.
Tonight, we grieve. We honor. We remember.
And tomorrow, we recommit—to doing better, to loving harder, and to building a world where memorials like this are no longer necessary.

Last year, many of you rolled up your sleeves and poured time, energy, and strategy into a comprehensive, collaborative process for the two‑year CoC Program Competition. We planned with intention, worked with urgency, and trusted that HUD would honor its commitment to give us this year to breathe, build, and implement.

Now, HUD is signaling a reversal—preparing to issue a new FY2025 NOFO with virtually no notice. While it has not yet been released, this signals a breach of trust and undermines the integrity of last year’s process.

We must act now—together.

Here's What You Can Do:

1) Reach Out to Congress – Fast.
Use this online tool to contact your Senators and Representatives. We need them to pressure THUD leadership to uphold last year’s 2‑year commitment:

For Missouri:

Senator Josh Hawley (R‑MO)

Senator Eric Schmitt (R‑MO)

Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D‑MO‑05)

For Kansas:

Senator Jerry Moran (R‑KS)

Senator Roger Marshall (R‑KS)

Ask them to urge HUD to honor the promised two‑year NOFO cycle. Personalize your message using the details from the toolkit.

2) Mobilize Your Network.
Send this message and the action link to everyone in your circle—especially agencies receiving CoC funding. Our collective voice matters.

3) Contact HUD Directly.
Call HUD CPD at (202) 708-1112 or email [email protected].
Tell them why issuing a new FY2025 NOFO now is unacceptable and how it harms the work being done in your community.

This is more than a policy pivot—it’s a disruption to our work, our partnerships, and the trust we've built.

Exciting News!

The Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness (GKCCEH) is thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded a $500,000 grant from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez through the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund! This funding will help us provide stable housing and critical support services to families experiencing homelessness in Jackson County, MO, and Wyandotte County, KS.

With family homelessness on the rise—representing over 28% of the U.S. homeless population—we are committed to creating a future where no child sleeps outside. This grant empowers us to strengthen our systems and ensure equitable access to resources for families in need.

Together, we’re building a community where every family feels safe, secure, and hopeful about their future. Thank you to the Day 1 Families Fund for helping us take this vital step forward.
