Weโ€™re celebrating a professional milestone for one of our team members! ๐ŸŽ‰

Debbie Bayless was recently re-certified as an approved Kansas Dispute Provider for Core and Domestic Mediations, continuing her commitment to helping people navigate conflict in constructive and restorative ways.

Mediators play an important role in our community by creating space for people in conflict to share their perspectives, listen to one another, and work toward solutions together.

Have you ever considered becoming a mediator? Our upcoming Interpersonal Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training offers hands-on practice in skills that can be used in everyday life, workplaces, and community settings.

Most of us were never taught how to navigate difficult conversations.

We learned math.
We learned how to write papers.

But few of us learned how to move through disagreement in ways that strengthen relationships instead of damaging them. At the Center for Conflict Resolution, we teach practical skills for doing exactly that.

Our Interpersonal Conflict Resolution training helps you understand your own conflict style and practice communication skills that support honest expression, listening, and connection โ€” even when conversations are hard.

Because we believe we need to understand our own approach to conflict before helping others, ICR is the first step before mediation training.

Many conflicts arenโ€™t really about the thing people are arguing about.

A disagreement about chores may actually be about feeling unappreciated.
A workplace disagreement may be about wanting respect or clarity.
A neighbor conflict may be about feeling heard.

In our Interpersonal Conflict Resolution training, you'll learn communication skills inspired by Nonviolent Communication that help people recognize the feelings and needs that often sit underneath conflict.

When people can name what matters to them โ€” and hear what matters to others โ€” conversations often shift in powerful ways.

Most people respond to conflict in one of a few predictable ways.

Some people avoid it.
Some push harder to be heard.
Some try to smooth things over quickly.
Others slow down and try to understand whatโ€™s really going on.

None of these responses are โ€œrightโ€ or โ€œwrongโ€ but becoming aware of our own conflict style can change the way conversations unfold. In our Interpersonal Conflict Resolution (ICR) training, you'll explore your own conflict style and learn practical communication skills that help you stay curious, listen deeply, and navigate disagreements with dignity and respect.
