The HMC-1 Board of Education will hold a Work Session on Thursday, September 17, at the Real-World Learning Center. Closed Session at 5:00 pm. Tax Levy Hearing at 5:45 pm. Open Session at 6:00 pm.

Today, we’re celebrating Ruskin High School Social Studies Teacher Kim Sixta, who was named one of just 43 educators nationwide to receive the 2027 Travelers Insurance Award for Teaching Excellence from the NEA Foundation!

Ms. Sixta is being recognized for the very qualities that make exceptional educators: a commitment to her students and families, excellence in teaching, dedication to equity and inclusion, and advocacy for the teaching profession.

Ms. Sixta is one of 43 teachers honored from across the country. Thank you for inspiring students, championing public education, and continuing to make a difference right here in the Hickman Mills community. Congratulations!
