I enjoyed a cup of coffee this afternoon with the Volunteer Recruiter for Learning Club. We swapped Recruiter secrets! Be prepared to answer your phone or email in the coming days!
If you don't volunteer to foster, or tutor youth, find a way to help others in the community. It is good for the soul.
In January, a Learning Club staff member was at a gas station and ran into some former students with their friends. The friends were hesitant to interact with the staff member, not sure if they were a safe adult. But our former students said, "Don't worry, she's from Learning Club!" This kind of trust isn't built overnight, it has taken years of showing up and proving that we put students first day after day, year after year.
Alongside our wonderful staff, Learning Club places volunteer tutors front and center with students. Tutors show up for an hour each week to help with homework, practice reading, or puzzle out math problems while building relationships of trust. When students connect with a tutor, it adds depth and value to both of their lives. Learning Club staff, students and volunteer tutors create a trust filled community of care and support with each other.
Would you consider becoming a Learning Club tutor? The process to get started is easy and the impact is immediate and immeasurable. You can start by visiting any session to see Learning Club in action. Nothing quite captures the energy and excitement like being there.
