For 40 years, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has filled gaps in Missouri mental health care services with free programs. Family to Family is one such program that provides support, coping skills, and encouragement to families with members who are struggling with mental health challenges.

Pride Month is about many things, but spreading the feeling of community and inclusiveness is especially important. It's wonderful to know Cornerstones of Care's WIDE initiative reinforces that commitment year-round.

This Pride Month, we reflect on what it truly means to show up for every person we serve and every person on our team.

After recognizing we have a critical role to play in addressing historic inequities within the child welfare sector, Cornerstones of Care launched our WIDE Initiative in early 2020. WIDE stands for Welcoming, Inclusive, Diverse, and Equitable, and since its launch, we have undertaken a series of intentional efforts to demonstrate our commitment as a WIDE organization. That work is ongoing, and we are proud of how far we have come.

At Cornerstones of Care, our WIDE commitment isn't a checkbox or a month. It's a lens we apply to everything we do, from the way we support our clients to the way we show up for our staff.

We know that LGBTQ+ youth are disproportionately represented in foster care. That means our commitment to every child feeling valued and safe is inseparable from our commitment to Pride.

This month and every month, we stand by our vision. 🏳️‍🌈

Missouri has spent months preparing for Medicaid changes based on earlier federal guidance. Now proposed changes to those rules may narrow who qualifies, create confusion for patients and providers, and put vulnerable citizens -- including those with mental health conditions -- at risk.

Help Missourians keep their health care. Call your senators before June 1 and voice your support for the original rules.

Family Support: Weekly home visits for Jackson County parents, from pregnancy through baby's third birthday. We come to you, wherever you are.

Education: Trainings for workplaces, schools, and parents. Mandated reporter certification, social-emotional learning, parenting skills training, and more.

We are funded by donors, foundations, and grants so that cost is never a barrier for the families and community members we serve.
