Celebrating 39 years of service to the 60+ residents of Wyandotte County! Caring Calls provide telephone support to homebound persons.

Programs offered to improve today’s situation include:

Next Chapter Kansas City – a community collaboration to provide help for persons in the second half of life as they transition to the "next chapter.”

Adventures in Learning offers a monthly learning series that includes a variety of workshops, health screenings, entertainment and lunch. Driver Safety Program, in collaboration with AARP

Fall & Spring Creative Classes (examples include drama, drawing, crocheting, knitting, writing, computers, book discussions)

Monthly Health Screenings for blood pressure and blood sugar

Minor Home Repair and Referral helps older adults with small repair jobs

Friends for Seniors, a friendly visitor program matching local volunteers with isolated older adults in the community

Parkinson Support Group offers educational presentations and mutual support. Vials of Life provides important medical and identification information accessible by rescue personnel in case of an emergency.

KCK Fire Department community paramedic Jessica Kraus joined us earlier this week for a Lunch and Learn. She shared information about her unique job, working in the community to help people avoid having to call 911, and then she helped us learn compression only CPR.
These opportunities can help us be more confident that we can help in an emergency medical situation.

We had such a good time Friday at Adventures in Learning, like we always do! Melinda Hartel shared her vintage quilt collection- such treasures! Hon. Tony and Angela Martinez brought our lunch, and Mayor Christal Watson pitched in to serve. Then she shared updates from the Mayor's office, but spent the majority of her time giving us updates on the response to the ferocious storm that hit our community and did major damage.
We thank all of our volunteers, attendees and presenters- we're nothing without all of you!

We have had some questions about whether we will hold Adventures in Learning tomorrow - Friday, August 21 and the answer is yes! Grace Lutheran/ Mason Memorial Church has power and we will be there. 10AM - health checks, snacks and fellowship; 11AM Melinda Hartel will share her vintage quilt collection; Noon - we will enjoy lunch and Unified Government Mayor Christal Watson will be our speaker.
