Looking for a fun way to celebrate Dad? Join us on June 10 to create a one-of-a-kind Father’s Day mug!

Kids will design a mug using a variety of fun decals and paint. Decorate with colorful designs, heartfelt messages, and creative patterns to make a memorable keepsake.

STREET CLOSURE NOTICE

Central Avenue at Broad Street and Pleasant Avenue at Central Avenue will close tomorrow, June 9, for utility line work. The closure is expected to last several weeks as crews replace a sewer line.

Please follow the detour signs in the area. The two detour options include traveling Pleasant Avenue, to Miller Street to NC 3 to Rainbow Drive or Central Avenue/Broad Avenue to Miller Street, Leonard Avenue to Rainbow Drive.

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, from 3pm to 5pm at the Rider Transit Center 45 Transit Court NW, Concord, for the purpose of soliciting input regarding proposed changes to the Rider Transit System as a result of proposed budget reductions by the City of Kannapolis, including: the elimination of the current Brown Route; modification of the current Blue Route; and elimination of weekend service on the Blue and Green Routes.

Garbage/Recycling Reminders 🚮♻️

Please help staff by properly placing garbage/recycling carts for collection. Collection carts use automated arms to collect carts. The automated arms must have enough space to maneuver in order to empty the carts.

Please remember:
✅ Lids on garbage and recycling bins must be closed properly, or carts will not be collected
✅ Recycling should be placed unbagged into the cart with the yellow lid
✅ Garbage should be bagged and placed into the cart with the black lid
✅ Bulk items, including extra garbage bags that do not fit into your cart, are collected every other week on the same day your recycling is collected

Are you ready for Cheap Trick? 🎶🌟

The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, with opener Chris Taylor & The Rumor.

The City offers a free and convenient shuttle options for concertgoers:

1️⃣Take a ride on the Village Park Concert Bus
🕛 Shuttles run from 5–11 p.m.
📍 Pickup locations:
Nova Credit Union Overflow Lot
Cabarrus Health Alliance
City Hall
Village Park
NC Research Campus Parking Deck

2️⃣If you want to explore downtown or catch a shuttle bus to Village Park - hop aboard one of the two West Avenue Shuttles (Thunder & Lightning). These electric golf carts travel to key locations in the downtown area. They are ADA compliant.
🕛 Shuttles run from 5–10 p.m.
📍 Pickup locations:
NC Research Campus Parking Deck (top of the horseshoe)
First Baptist Church (rear access)
Intersection of West Avenue and Cannon Baller Way near The Bank Food Hall
*Note the West Ave shuttle does not stop at Village Park*
