Our hearts break every time we lose one of our own. We share our deepest condolences to Captain Carlile’s family, Cedar City Fire Dept, and the community.

The fire service is family - no one walks alone. In the days ahead, we encourage anyone who may be struggling to reach out for help.
If you, or someone you know is in crisis, help is available. Call the Utah Firefighter Crisis Support Hotline 801-587-1800, utilize the SafeUT Frontline app, or text/call 988 to connect with the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline.

It is with profound sadness that we share the off duty passing of Fire Captain Scott Carlile.

Scott was a valued member of the Cedar City Fire Department whose dedication, professionalism, and friendship touched many lives throughout our department and community. His loss leaves an immense void in the hearts of all who knew him.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues as we grieve together. We ask for privacy and respect for the Carlile family during this difficult time.

Scott worked and supported his community and The Cedar City Fire Department for 25 years. The best way to honor him is to do exactly that - be there and support each other.

August stats are here! We had a total of 70 calls this month, with a decrease in fire calls this past month, but don’t let that fool you! Fire season is still in full swing here in southern Utah. We did have 3 more medical call than last month.
Please be aware of changing road conditions and road construction. Remember that warm months in UT = road construction. Also be aware of changing weather when out hiking, monsoons can come up seemingly out of nowhere and the worst place to be is in a wash. We look forward to continuing to serve the community!
