It was a busy Memorial Day weekend. Nehemiah a new hire FF/Emt trained with Jake, Aaron, Katie and Mike Grogan on FF and Emt skills. Matthan had his first shift as a solo EMT Med 1 stood by at the Dwarfinator event at Kamiah Bar and Grill , Grogan completed maintenance on several vehicles and lastly on Memorial Day for the third consecutive year the honorary Murphy Challenge was completed. With the support of Katie keeping an eye out for any medical situation. 1 mile
Run , 100 pull ups , 200 push ups , 300 squats and a mile run again with a weighted vest or pack on. Great job to my team. Chief Billy

Please join me in thanking all of our EMS providers and members that include Paramedic, advanced Emt‘s, Emt‘s, and of course, our drivers and interns. Without the efforts of all of these individuals we would not be able to maintain our level of service we provide the citizens of Kamiah and surrounding areas. Great job to these dedicated KFR members. Elisa and Bailey attended a rope rescue class in Elk City. Lt Jake instructs Charlie, Carter and Matthan on some Engineer pumping skills. Chrissy teaching new EMT Tory an IV module and a very rare site of the Chief pushing the EMS stretcher. Great work team.

A busy fire day today for KFR while Med 1 was transporting a patient to CVH a chicken coop burned with a propane tank and home threatened. A great quick stop by E21 and Br25 and C20. Followed by an under investigation fire at the train trestle bridge that comprised one of the structural members with heavy timber driftwood on fire. E21,Br25 Command 20 and IDL Engine 32 made fast work using a portable pump into the river as a water source. Thank you to our local businesses that always support letting our priceless volunteers leave work to fight these fires. Thank you to Simmons Sanitation and the CH Farm and Ranch for your assistance.

This week we say good bye to Lieutenant Chris Emory. Chris has been with Kamiah Fire EMS for over ten years as a faithful volunteer and has held several positions from EMT to AEMT,Engineer, Lieutenant and has taught many CPR classes for our members and the community. Chris is headed to a State Wildland job in Michigan near his family. We thank him for his dedication and service to the communities of Kamiah and Kooskia.
