City of Kalona Statement:

Early Friday morning, City staff were made aware of hateful material that had been distributed door-to-door overnight throughout certain areas of our community. Staff were immediately directed to begin canvassing those targeted areas, prioritizing student routes to our local schools, to locate and collect the material for disposal.
City staff reached out to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to make them aware of the situation, and they are actively investigating the incident. If you have information that may assist in their investigation, please contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

This kind of hatred has no place in Kalona. We are a community that has long prided itself on welcoming neighbors of all backgrounds, and we will not allow groups who promote hate in manners such as we saw Friday morning to define who we are as a community.
