Coldsprings-Excelsior Fire and Rescue would like to thank Chief Headley for the last 10 years of service as Fire Chief. He's not completely leaving the dept so you will still be seeing him around and on calls, just taking a well earned break. He will temporarily be filling in the position of Capt. and assisting the new Chief with getting settled in.

And with that being said we would like to welcome the new Fire Chief. Chief Guidebeck has been on the dept for several years in the role of Capt. and has 40 years of experience in the fire service including prior experience as a Fire Chief.

We are under an elevated fire danger for today, the fire danger is Very High, burn permits are not being issued, and open outside burning of debris is NOT being allowed.

If you happen to see a lot of smoke in the south part of the county today don't panic, the DNR will be conducting a prescribed burn of approximately 540 acres on the south side of Fletcher Rd near 4 Point and Maple Rd begining at 10am.

We dont make the rules people, we just report them. Kalkaska is under a red flag warning for today which means NO outside burning.

County Road 612 is now back open at the east county line. However, please continue to use caution when traveling through the area as the fix is just temporary until the resurfacing project scheduled for later this year.

FYI!!! CR-612 from Goose Creek to West Bear Lake will be closed to through traffic, CR-612 will be closed in the curves by Goose Creek. West bound Traffic will be detoured down Goose Creek to M-72 down M-72 to West Bear Lake rd and in reverse headed east.

Monday Night Training:

Tonight Coldsprings-Excelsior Fire and Rescue teamed up with Blue Lake Twp. Fire and Rescue for joint training on water supply. Joint training like this helps to not only promote a strong bond between departments but also helps departments to familiarize themselves with each others equipment so that we can work better together as a team when it really counts.
