Yesterday, at Kalkaska's bump and run, Blue Lake Township's Fire Department was represented by two of its finest: Chief Greg Brierly (Not pictured), and Fire Fighter Rick Marcinkus. Oh yeah, I was there too. Very blessed to be part of this special crew.

At times, it seems that our local governing members are factional and even adversarial. It is disheartening because they all appear to be upstanding people. We can do better. Pettiness and personalities aside, I would like to be part of the solution.
This next year, the Township will be facing several issues that will affect each and everyone of us. Sanitation, Zoning amendments and enforcement, making the right choices as Kalkaska's Munson vendored hospital transitions from an Act 47 to a For Nonprofit facility. Blue Lake's aging community requires acute understanding as well as top emergency services from our Fire and Rescue.
It is my goal to make that happen.
August 6th will be here soon. Make it count.

Last night at our township meeting I met and spoke with Gayenell Gentelia. She is running for Kalkaska County Treasurer. I found her credentials impeccable, intuitive, and experienced. I wholeheartedly endorse and urge you to vote for her for Kalkaska Treasurer. She has my vote.

My candidate post cards will go out tomorrow. Demographics suggest that 86% of residents will immediately discard as junk mail without reading or research. Four out of five of you will not research a candidate by the time you get to the ballot. The rest of you will perform your due diligence.
I am counting on you and ask humbly for your vote. August 6th is the day. Let's make the difference together.

If you live in Blue Lake, and are doing your research for Trustee, you might ask why am I qualified to serve the Township's community?
To be honest, the only way to understand grass roots government is to become involved in your community. I am a proud member of Blue Lake's Fire and Rescue since December. Soon after, I have since participated in Township Board, Planning Commission, and Budget meetings. I have done so as a concerned citizen and to discern the workings of our current leadership.

I have been a practicing licensed physician for 38 years. I retired from practice in 2023 in Plymouth Michigan, and before that in Garden City. I successfully operated my clinic for 25 years. During my tenure as Clinic director, I have had over 60 depositions as an expert witness and treating physician. This has been an invaluable experience to gain an understanding of the legal arena.
I currently work with a company out of Louisville know as Bio-meth management in the remediation/ decontamination of bio-hazards and clandestine lab activity.

Finally, I am a family man, blessed with my wife, three children (no grandchildren yet) and three dogs. Blue Lake has become our respite from a wonderful and rewarding career.

I do not live on any of the 17 lakes within the Township (if that count is correct). As far as I know, all the current elected officials in Blue Lake live on one of the many lakes. Are we all fairly represented?
Please consider me for Trustee.

"The State exists simply to promote and to protect the ordinary happiness of human beings in this life. A husband and wife chatting over a fire, a couple of friends having a game of darts in a pub, a man reading a book in his own room or digging his own garden -- that is what the State is there for. And unless they are helping to increase and prolong and protect such moments, all the laws, parliaments, armies, courts, police, economics, etc., are simply a waste of time."

-C.S. Lewis

Having met all other 5 candidates, I think all are capable, however I can only endorse one other candidate (other than myself) and that would be Todd Brozovich. He's very capable and highly intuitive. The Township would be fortunate to have him.

We're getting closer, so it's time for a mission statement:
Community above Compromise.
It goes without saying that fiscal responsibility is of the utmost importance, and with issues such as rising sanitation costs, Kalkaska's impending changes with Article 47 to non-profit, and zoning amendments concerning commercial enterprise, we must aspire to balance and preservation. Our community must come first. From protecting our natural resources to maintaining our Fire and Rescue, we have plenty of work to do.
Thanks for all your consideration.
