At tonight’s Blue Lake Twp. Board meeting the Board approved the purchase of a new Custom built Spartan Fire Engine built by CSI in Grayling Mi.
This is all possible because of the continued support the Fire Dept receives from our Community.
Thank you to the Truck committee for your hard work and dedication to make this a reality.
Thank you to the Twp. Board for excepting the recommendation from the Fire Department.
This new Engine will replace our current 26 year old Fire Engine. Completion time frame to deliver is expected to be in next 60 to 90 days.

“UPDATE ON 612 ROAD CLOSURE”

Update on CR 612
Road commission has the covert in and they are putting stone over it now. The road will remained closed tonight (05/04/2026) to make sure everything works as they planned.
612 should be reopened tomorrow morning once checked.
The road will stay temporarily fixed until 612 is resurfaced between Blue Lake Rd and the county line some time this summer.
The area is being monitored as people are moving barricade’s to get around.
They will have a large machine completely blocking the road at the covert so you cannot get through.

We will update the condition tomorrow morning!!

County road 612 ROAD CLOSURE

612 will completely closed just west of Deward road.
They are routing all traffic to W Bear Lake Rd to 72 going to the East. Coming West they will route you down Manistee River Road to 72 to W Bear Lake Rd.
This is do to the road washing out again just west of Deward Rd.
We will advise when 612 is back open.

Follow up to yesterday’s post about extreme caution on County Rd 612 W of Cameron Bridge Rd.
Kalkaska County road commission came out this morning and fixed the area so it is not so dangerous. They have added sand to the north side of the road to stop the water from flowing across the road and have patched the holes. Both lanes are now usable.
Still use caution as there is water flowing across 612 about 1/2 mile west of this location.

Blue Lake Twp. Firefighters would like to thank ColdSprings Excelsior Twp. Firefighters for hosting tonight’s joint trining. 🍕🍕
The two departments worked on Relay Pumping (long distance relay of water) and rural hitch pumping (short relay of water) from Tanker to Pumper.
It is invaluable to know each other’s equipment/ fittings and how multiple department can work hand in hand for one common goal. “Protect our Communities”
